I highly recommend Chick Charters! Sandra is an experienced Captain and fisherman with a great reputation. She made my trip so fun, lots of laughs, and we all caught a ton of fish. I also loved that I was fishing with a local, woman-owned small business. She helped everyone feel comfortable fishing and offered lots of tips and cool stories. She was great helping beginners and offering lots of freedom to those more comfortable. I thought it was awesome that other captains were calling her on the radio asking for tips and advice because she was outfishing them. She handled my fishing license and helped me get my fish processed and sent home. So helpful. Ketchikan is absolutely beautiful too. We saw eagles, seals, and porpoises from the boat. I’ve been on a lot of fishing boats, but none as clean and comfortable as hers. The Scarlett Grace is beautiful, well maintained, and has a real bathroom (which I appreciate when on the water all day). Sandra provided rain gear, drinks, and snacks, which included her mom’s smoked salmon. So good! If you want to get off the tourist path and fish like a local, book a trip with Chick Charters. If you want a great captain, who perseveres to find the fish, Sandra is your gal! She is a very experienced and talented captain who took me and another group of 4 on a half day fishing excursion for Salmon and it was a blast! The day started off really slow, and we noticed less and less boats as time went on... I assume people were giving up, but not Capt. Sandra. She was checking and re checking lines, constantly reassuring us that she would find fish, and... she did!!! Between all 5 of us we caught 12, and I caught 4. Not including those 12 a few of them popped of the line. Capt Sandra was constantly and positively coaching us, and helping us Catch fish! I was also running late for another excursion and wanted to go process my fish to take home, she took my 11 fish (the others only wanted 1) and took them to processing for me. My husband and I took an Alaskan cruise for our anniversary. He has never wanted to go on a cruise but always wanted to visit Alaska, so we compromised. I booked a fishing charter for us with Sandra as a gift for my husband who loves fishing. For us fishing is usually at a lake. It was the best gift I could have ever gotten for him. Sandra made it so much fun. She was also so easy to talk to and taught us how to reel in our catch without losing our salmon. She knew the perfect location for us to fish. We caught our limit in no time at all. She has a wonderful relationship with the eagles and actually fed a female eagle from our boat. Such a beautiful sight. My husband was so impressed with Sandra, that because of her, he wants to take another cruise to Alaska and will only do a fishing charter her and no one else.
