Bad customer service. Went there at 5:30 pm on a Friday to buy a shotgun to shoot dove. No one at gun counter. Stood there until after 6 and finally started looking for someone. Found a guy over in clothes and he told me they close gun counter at 6 because they can't get background check. Drove to acadamy sports in Newman and bought my gun. They had no problem. They had a great price on a pistol I wanted so I went in on a Sunday to buy it at 4 pm because I knew they couldn't get background checks after 6. Right ? Well after standing at gun counter for a while with no one back there I went looking again. Found the same guy I talked to a couple weeks earlier. Well he tells me they close gun counter at 4 on Sunday be cause they can't get background check. Must be a trained response. Asked to talk to a manager. When the mgr finally arrived he acted like he didnt want to even be bothered ,busy looking at phone. Did my acadamy run and bought my pistol. Paid a few dollars more but if they don't want my business I'll take it elsewhere. They lost close to 2000.00 from me. I was real excited when I heard we were getting a real outdoors store here , but in my opinion it is a flop. Outrageous prices ,sorry customer service, bad management, and inexperienced staff. My mother and me went in this establishment May 31 2025 yesterday to be exact. She was helping me with the purchase of a 2 pairs of jeans and work boots for a new job. She asked the cashier do they except checks we were told of course my mother wrote the check they couldn't get it to go through. They called a manager she finally came couldn't get it to go through and asked for her ID over 4 times. My mother said we'll maybe something is wrong with the check reader they told us no it worked properly so after trying to process her check another 5 time's they said we'll maybe something is wrong with our check reader so my mom pulled out cash and told them this is ridiculous! And also said I will check my bank account when I get home lucky nothing was taken out of it. My mother's checks are good by far I promise! It's ridiculous at how a company can not do a job after they said they can verify unprofessional! After we left we walked to the other side of the mall at B Turner's bought some clothes and they had no problem processing her check! Get it together Dunhams...

Went into purchase a gun a few days ago. Paperwork is delayed by the government. I ask “can I go ahead & pay for the gun?“ Employee says “No, we’ll put it on hold for you.”Go back today. Turns out it Doesn’t matter if the paperwork is back or not. The gun has been sold! They don’t put guns on hold for you. You must put them on layaway to hold them. Which I would have done had I been informed. The guy behind the counter acted like I should know that! But guess what, I don’t work there. No, I didn’t know! He offered to order it for me. HA!
