I went into Sunny Days at Laguna yesterday with three of my friends, and we left completely disgusted by the way we were treated. The two ladies at the counter never acknowledged us when we walked in — no hello, no smile, nothing. They just kept talking to each other.
When I looked at a pair of aviator sunglasses, I politely asked if they had any similar options with a bigger frame. They both looked at each other, exchanged an annoyed, almost disgusted expression, and one of them simply said “No.” That was it. No attempt to be helpful, no suggestion of other styles, not even a basic courtesy response. My sister was on the other side of the store and witnessed the interaction too. We both left feeling unwelcomed, and honestly, we sensed prejudice in the way they handled us. I’ve never experienced that before, but it was very clear from their demeanor.
We ended up leaving and walking into Stitch & Feather right down the street, and the difference was night and day. There, we were greeted warmly, offered champagne and water while we shopped, and actually felt appreciated as customers.
Shopping should never feel uncomfortable or demeaning. Unfortunately, Sunny Days left us feeling exactly that way. I will not be returning, and I hope the store’s management addresses the way their staff...
