Their motto is "the flooring experts so you don't have to be". That is what we counted on because we didn't know what was right for our floors. We were assured that the luxury vinyl would be appropriate for our uneven concrete floors and that the installers would make them flat to receive the flooring (that is a quote from Jeff S. Vice Pres.). The floors have many pockets of where the flooring does not lay flat and so when you walk it makes noise and you can feel the vinyl give. Not something you want especially after paying $12,600. FFL and I have gone back in forth about this with FFL saying this is within acceptable limits. In my opinion it is not acceptable. I was told to live with it for a while. I have and I still am not happy with the flooring. I wrote to Jeff S that I still wasn't satisfied but have heard nothing back after 2 months. I stopped by the store and talked to Joel U who sold me the product and he was going to talk to store manager that was over a month ago. Bottom line I would go somewhere else to purchase my flooring because they do not care if you are happy with the results. There are other company that guarantee customer satisfaction FFL does not. Response to owner 3/7/21 I understand your need to defend your company which has many positive reviews but there are always 2 sides to story. I understand FFL doesn't spend thousands to level a 57 year old house whos floors were made for carpet. I am saying that your expert sales assoc. said that while FFL doesn't level floors the installers would make the floors flat enough to receive and lay on the slab even if they have to use 60 bags of leveler. No one in their right mind would accept floors that have pockets of air underneath....you wouldn't. If I had been advised that this would happen we would have either had floors expertly floated or chosen a different product . I like the vinyl very much...looks great...until you walk on it. And except for installers the 2 other repairs crews you sent .... 1 left because we couldn't communicate and the others English was limited and didn't have everything he needed so had to come back . This is my first review of a company in my 72 years so not sure how this is supposed to work. I would be glad to talk to you about this at your...
Read moreI'm not sure if the issues I experienced were due to a lack of training, poor attention to detail, or simply a lack of honesty. I visited their store and had someone come to my home, where I was given a number of assurances about what was included in the service. However, much of that turned out to be misleading or inaccurate. After speaking with the manager, the story changed — suddenly they needed additional measurements, what was originally included was no longer covered, and I was told I’d have to hire another contractor to complete the work, which will now cost me more. The entire process has left me feeling misled and questioning their trustworthiness.
Edit: I originally spoke with the manager, who recommended buying some 1x2 moulding as a cheaper alternative to removing the baseboards. I picked it up and scheduled the flooring install. Ironically, the installers decided to drop the baseboards anyway, saying it would look better—which I agreed with—and to their credit, they didn’t charge me extra for that.
The full install took about two and a half days. There were some challenges, mainly due to the difference in height between the new flooring and the rest of the house. We went over several options for transitions. The team tried to come up with good solutions, but in a few areas, it felt like they were improvising due to limited materials. Stair moulding was used in some rooms, but they ran out, so other transitions had to be handled differently. One installer mentioned that some pieces may eventually come loose, which I found a bit concerning.
The flooring itself looks good, though the texture isn’t very comfortable underfoot. There are also some noticeable gaps under the doorway moulding and a few holes left in the walls under the windows—likely due to how things were installed before the new floors went in. I’ll need to patch those myself.
That said, the crew was courteous and put in real effort to work through the issues. While the process was a bit bumpy and not everything turned out perfectly, they did try to make it right and the end result is still a solid improvement over what was...
Read moreThis review comes with some caveats. First I was asked to write this review by the business. Second, I didn't experience any negative issues at all, so I cannot speak to what happens what that occurs. I feel like in this type of business that's important. For me, 5 stars is when a company acts truly extraordinary. In this case they did everything great, and so there was no opportunity to get tested to be extraordinary. I simply cannot take a star away when everything goes correctly.
We ordered carpet from Floors For Living. Mike was our sales person. He's the kind of guy who makes you feel comfortable being there. There's a personal touch that's definitely missing from a place like Home Depot. We carpeted two bedrooms in our house. They offered to move furniture and remove old carpet, but that was not needed in our situation. I compared prices for what I thought seemed comparable. They were a touch higher but not much. I figured customer service was worth the small price increase. The carpet was ordered and I was given a good install date that met our timeline. Originally Mike said they were 6 weeks out, but we got ours done in 3 weeks.
When the installers came, they were top notch. English was passable. They were kind. The baseboard damage was minimal, only a couple of small dents. They even used the scraps in a few places where we didn't have carpeting yet to make transitions.
So overall, I would absolutely go with them again. They did everything right that was asked of them. As long as that continues to be the case, you won't be...
