AN ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL REVIEW WHEN CONSIDERING A COMPANY FOR ANY COSMETIC SERVICE. THE TRUE MEASURE OF A COMPANY’S HEART AND INTEGRITY FOR THEIR CLIENTS/CRAFT IS NOT IN HOW THEY MANAGE SUCCESSFUL OUTCOMES, BUT IN HOW MUCH THEY ARE WILLING TO DO TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT WHEN THEY MESS UP. IT DEMONSTRATES HOW THEY WILL HANDLE A SITUATION THAT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYBODY. I was a loyal client of theirs for a multitude of services FOR YEARS. What happened to me last Thursday was everyone’s nightmare salon trip, after having my hair done here for nearly 2 years. I went in to see my regular hairstylist and left with my healthy hair over processed, damaged, broken, falling out, my entire scalp covered in chemical burns, and everything I’ve invested in my hair ruined by this stylist and company I had a well-established trust with. My hair meant so much to me, and I’ve invested thousands upon thousands of dollars into it over the past 5 years. Enough money I could’ve bought a car with, all destroyed in one sitting. After pouring my heart out to try to get them to help aid me in any measure back to where I was before this visit.(I asked for a scalp serum to repair my severely damaged scalp and aid in regrowth of the years worth of length I have to cut off, deep conditioning treatments at the time of future color services since my hair will not be able to withstand the color services the same given the severity of damage now present, and the inevitable further damage from bleach needed to get me back to the color I was. I asked for them to refund me and to fix my color back to what I had for free. I believe all that to be fair and REASONABLE seeing as I only asked for things to try and help restore my hair back to the color I had for 2 years (a color I was committed to keeping forever) and help aid its now compromised condition. My hair can never be what it was before this visit, I have no choice but to accept that which is why I only asked for things to HELP manage it along the way of growing it back out. They disregarded every. single. detail. of my email, and heartlessly said “We are sorry you’re unhappy with your hair, we’ll refund you in 3-5 business days.” I HAD GOOD RESULTS HERE UNTIL I DIDNT, JUST LIKE YOU MIGHT. It’s not that I was simply “unhappy” with my hair…this is beyond matter of opinion…my hair is ruined. If you made it this far, I sincerely hope you take your business to a company that actually values you enough to rectify mistakes THEY make. There was nothing I could’ve done to prevent this. It was entirely out of my control. I went to my usual hairstylist, for routine color appointment, and she messed up. That’s it. At Amara they couldn’t care less for you, they have made that abundantly clear. Once again, I was a client for many services for years, don’t fool yourself into thinking they’ll handle an unfortunate situation with you any better if one were to occur. The 1 star review below mine didn’t even get an acknowledgment from the company. Not even an apology for a bad experience (as of 8/20/24). Take note of that. The positive reviews are not indicative of Amara as a company, those reviewers had a positive outcome by their stylist. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. If a bad one were to occur, you’ll be met with the same lack of empathy from this...
Read moreI was very disappointed my visit to Amara today. I have never gone for a dramatic color change and have only dared do light highlights. I brought in a picture, the middle one posted here and asked before we started if they could do this look. I was told yes. I also stated that the biggest reason I wanted my hair colored was because I was finding silver hair. The end product, although a very pretty color is not at all what I asked for.
I went back and let them know it was not what I wanted and was told they couldn't fix it. They could try again but it would cost $90 more dollars and no promises. Their colors are l'oreal and more natural and not very good at doing dramatic vibrant colors. Then I was told that I should go to another salon.
I understand that certain brands can only do so much. That is just fine. But, I wish that I had been told that before I spent 3 hours and $90 dollars to have it done!
I posted pictures of my color on Facebook and was literally told by someone that they got the exact same hair color and theirs did the same thing. She was told red colors will fade after a few weeks. 20 minutes after leaving the salon I was informed that my hair looks faded and weeks old! I can also still very clearly see the silver in my hair.
Very disappointed and I left the salon in tears. The stylist was very sweet and the people were very kind but my experience was horrible.
I'm out $90 dollars, still have silver hair and according to others have older faded color and it will be months before I will be able to afford to do it somewhere else.
I have heard very good things about this salon but I will never go back! I feel lied to, ripped off and it was a complete waste of money I had saved and treasured to make myself feel special...
Read moreI have to write this review as customer service, customer experience and respect is important amd there is lots of places to get a haircut in Utah county. I get my haircut here every three weeks. Over $40 plus a generous tip each tim. Today I was running late, gave a call to give them a heads up, and then ended up being 15 mins late (looked at my watch when i walked in). I walked in, waited 2-3 mins while another women was being helped, and then was told the hair stylist would no longer see me because at that time i was 19 mins late. 1) I was there at the 15 min time limit, 2) had the stylist who knew they had an appointment was waiting for me to arrive instead of sitting in the back it wouldnt have been a problem, and 3) is 15 mins late vs 19 mins late (4 mins difference) really going to impact the rest of the schedule?) I was told i could reschedule (i had this scheduled for three weeks so good luck with that). Disappointed that the stylist who has done my hair multiple times who i have generously tipped each time (25-30%) could see the bigger picture and do the haircut.
Also the first time i came here i had a different stylist and received the worst haircut id received in 10 years. It was uneven, and butchered so the stylist had to call in backup to help fix it. The only way to fix it was to cut most of the hair off. There was no offer for discounting or not making me pay for the terrible haircut in the first place. Ive had some good haircuts here to be fair, but this speaks to the level of care and customer orientation they show here. Id be happy to share my views with anyone from management or ownership if they...
