We found J Brooks 8 yrs ago when upgrading my wedding ring. We went in the store on a whim, expecting it to be too expensive...the price of what we wanted was less than it was at the national chain jeweler down the street and the quality at J Brooks was far superior. Trudy and John were a pleasure to work with, they took the time to educate us and make sure they found exactly what we wanted. Every aspect of the process was seamless. We found the jeweler we will use for life that day.
We have made several purchases at J Brooks over the years and our experience has been nothing short of fabulous every time. They honestly care about each customer and will do whatever it takes to find a high quality piece to fit your budget. Their customer service is second to none...they make me feel like family there, no pushy “used car salesman “ tactics or high pressure to buy like you get at the other jewelers.
I recently lost my wedding ring and anniversary band. John, Kim and Trudy were not only sympathetic to our situation but were willing to do whatever they could to help. I simply had to decide if I wanted to have them recreate the rings I had lost or help me find something new. In hopes of finding my lost rings someday, I elected to go with something new. I found two beautiful rings at the Lehi location and they were very helpful with getting appraisals completed for insurance purposes (note - always make sure your jewelry is properly insured, it will save headache and heartache if lost or stolen). Working with kind people like John, Kim and Trudy definitely took some of the sting out of our sad situation and I will always be grateful.
Next time you’re looking to make a purchase, whether large or small, give J Brooks a try...I promise you won’t be...
Read moreA few years ago, I saw a ring in a chain jewelry store I loved. My husband and I had been thinking of upgrading my ring so we watched it on and off, sometimes stopping in to see if it was a style they still offered, or if the price had changed. It finally went on a pretty discounted sale, but I still wondered if the value was actually there for the money. Hearing that locally owned jewelry stores tend to give you a better value with higher quality than most mall/chain stores, I decided to stop in to J. Brooks for a second opinion and some comparison. I found that thinking to be absolutely correct.
It’s a family owned and operated local business and I was able to work directly with the owners, John and his wife, Kim. They were able to offer a custom made piece to look very similar to the one I had found at the chain store, but in platinum with a MUCH nicer center stone... for the same price!!
I never really planned on owning a piece of jewelry this nice, as I’m typically very practical in my spending. But when the value is there, it makes MUCH more sense. J. Brooks also offers the warranty that chain stores charge a few hundred dollars for, at no additional cost. I’ve learned it’s not the same as walking in and paying retail at a store in the mall for something more mass produced and that’s WHY I felt more comfortable spending my money there.
And ladies, if you’re a little intimidated by the possibility of a custom process, don’t be. You can see digital images of the design and a 3D print before it’s made. Though, there’s plenty of beautiful existing items to choose from as well. Thanks, John and Kim, for an amazing piece of jewelry!! It’s so much nicer than anything else I was...
Read moreWould rate lower if I could. Went to get a ring appraised. Then said they couldn’t do it that day and they’d have to send it to another store.
We had them appraise a chain ant the same time to gauge their process and honesty.
They quoted $900 for the chain. The spot price of gold alone in the chain is $2000. Currently selling at a competitor at $4600.
They gave my wife a rough appraisal in her ring that was $2,500.
Similar ring on thier website is $10,000.
So either 1 of 2 things are true. They buy jewelry at less than half the value of raw material or 5x less the retail value OR sell jewelry at 4x the actual value.
Run don’t walk away. Screams of dishonesty.
Updating for Response and will change to a 2 star for replying to message.
We weren't looking to sell either piece. J
Just wanted to get an idea of what kind of honesty and transparency is all. We have a daughter that is getting close to the age of marriage and are looking around to see and encourage her where to look.
We have an appraisal on both items that were brought into the store (the Ring appraised from GIA Master appraiser) and wanted to see what they'd say.
Gold itself is not hard to appraise. It tested as 14k and had the scale weight it. Looking at just spot price with a simple Google search can give you that.
I guess I wouldn't necessarily say RUN from this place, but be extremely educated before coming in as I don't feel the staff was helpful at all in this situation. Maybe additional training is needed. More than willing to have you text me or email me if you'd like and I can send over the appraisal so you can see exactly how far off we're...
