Steve was a saint for not only tolerating, but truly caring for us as out-of-towners who wanted a local opinion on what and how to travel through the Whites (Pemi loop + one separate hut experience + Chocorua and surrounding Sandwich Range area). I can't thank him enough for the huge positive impact he had on an outstandingly-rewarding (but challenging) trip. His help was pivotal. The store has the White Mtn yearly parking passes, which you will likely want if you are parking and hiking multiple days though the Whites. Plan on getting the White Mountains "Map Adventures" map too. It was invaluable. If you are into the "passport games" of mountain tourism (i.e., hiking everything on a list), this store has all of the stickers/help you could want. Need a book pertaining to hiking ,the outdoors, White mountains etc so many I didn't have time to check them all. Bought a map AMC 4k T-shirt, white Mnt. calendar , and one of Steve's books oh yes and a waterproof map of the white mountains. It was awesome talking with Steve and just people who came into the store. Only think missing was a coffee. Counter. For a small store it's packed with information . Oh did I mention info on snow shoeing information. Anyways more stuff than I hadbtime to look at. I look forward to going back next time I'm in the area. Fantastic store, most knowledgeable and nicest man is Steve Smith, he wrote the book, really👍, I’m from Ct. but when I go up for a hike or hikes, I have to stop in and say Hello. My one son is 28 and we met Steve when he was 9 when we converged onto another trail we were hiking and bumped into Steve. I had just bought his book, Hiking the Whites the day before and what are the chances of running into the author on a trail. We exchanged names and I asked if wrote the book that I had just bought, answer was yes and he said come to my store tomorrow and I’ll sign it.
