It's very sad what's happening to this building. It's so beautiful, with residents that truly care. Unfortunately it's become very obvious that the owner doesn't care about the residents well-being. The hallways are filthy now, the outdoor trash area is disgusting, left open for tweekers to rifle through day & night. Suddenly this year there is no hot water - it's only warm water, even cold comes out warm. Pipes are exposed in apartments. Hallway carpets are filthy. Bathtubs peeling and don't ask for it to be glazed because you'll be charged. They also fired the gentleman who would vacuum the hallways - which prevented BED BUGS. There was 1 outbreak already and I pray there isn't another without regular cleaning. THE ELEVATORS DO NOT WORK – this is the final straw. The elevators have been an ongoing issue for years and the fault lies with the owner not willing to do the necessary repairs until now - and that's ONLY because neither elevator is working. NOT even when people were trapped inside elevators for HOURS did the owner try to fix this. There is an elderly man stuck on the 6th floor (8th if you come through the back) who cannot walk down the stairs due to using a walker. There is another tenant with a broken leg. The only updates sent are fake guesstimates, and zero follow-up... this was supposed to be fixed Tuesday, July 23rd and here were are at July 29th without a single word from management. We are hitting about 3 weeks with no elevator at all, the second time this happened this year - first time it was a month without an elevator. Besides from the residents, what about moving in? moving out? Getting water delivered or mail? Doing laundry in the basement? Oh well, there is no elevator for you to use...

I was supposed to check out an apartment I filled out an application for but I got canceled on to twice in the same day. No one has reached back to me. I haven’t been able to get in contact with anyone. No one answers the phone. This is a bad sign from the beginning. I would avoid filling out an application, unless you want to lose your money for an application fee and get no response.

Cool, vintage building, a bit run down and could use some updating. Have had a few maintenence issues with plumbing. A couple times there have been cockroaches inside as well. Other than that, great location, not too bad cost wise. However, I give this one star because living under the yoke of the worst human being I have ever met in my entire life- apartment manager Maria , I have come to know true harrasment. I almost laughed reading a previous review who wrote "Maria runs a tight ship." The only way that review can be validated is if this reviewers definition of "tight ship" is Nazi Germany circa World War Two. Maria is incredibly rude to both tenants and guests. I have experienced bullying from her 1st hand in regards to "being too loud" (by her standard which is apparently laughing, talking on the phone, or breathing if you are walking to your apartment). She has zero tact when addressing her concerns to any tenant and threatens 'eviction' in every sentence. If you have guests, you had better muzzle them- even if they're in the front of the building because she will make them feel very unwelcomed with a barrage of insults. The most laughable thing about the management of this building is if you complain to their "higher ups," you will find no rectification. Maria writes your "tenant file" so believe that it will be falsified to corroborate Maria's twisted views of you or your guest. Sadly, it's a lose/ lose. I will be searching for another place to move once it's feasible, just thought I'd give anyone reading this a fair warning before voluntarily relinquishing control of their freedom, money, or sanity to this company or it's management staff....

Great location! This is a historical building so you would expect some normal wear and tear. However, there is trash from apparently lazy neighbors who do not pick up after themselves throughout the hallways, stairwells, lobby, laundry room area and just outside of it as you walk out of the laundry room as well as plenty of trash all over the entire back where the dumpsters are on a fairly consistent basis. Nice neighbors but apparently they do not care much about their environment to be ok with this. Notices and fines should be given to the people who are classless and trifling enough to keep doing it. Very disrespectful! Not to mention, the owner who REALLY seems to care less about this apartment complex nor the people in it. He only seems to care about money. Simply greedy!!! The only cleaning guy that was here was let go. The rents have gone up at least 4-5 times within the last 3+ years. The elevators seldom work. There is no curb appeal which just requires sprucing up the front with fresh paint and flower/plants, maybe a statue, etc. New carpet needed in lobby and throughout stairwells. Asbestos and walls need to be addressed, especially in the areas where the walls are exposed where you can see the white powder coming out of the walls such as on the 2nd floor and in the laundry room. Updating needed throughout!!! Maria and her husband do their best, but their hands are tied. Something needs to be done! Much needed! No one seems to really care or do anything...
