Restaurant Review: The Sky Room ā A Culinary Oasis in the Clouds
Nestled high above the bustling streets, The Sky Room offers not just a meal but an experience steeped in opulence and elegance. From the moment you step off the elevator, you're enveloped in a world where culinary artistry meets breathtaking views that stretch across the skyline. This is fine dining at its peakāboth literally and figuratively.
The ambiance of The Sky Room is nothing short of enchanting. Soft, ambient lighting casts a warm glow over plush furnishings, while floor-to-ceiling windows provide panoramic vistas that transform with each passing hourāfrom golden sunsets to glittering city lights. Itās a place where every detail has been crafted for comfort and sophistication.
As we settled into our seats, we were warmly greeted by our server Davidāa true gem among waitstaff. With his extensive knowledge of the menu and impeccable attention to detail, he made us feel as though we were guests at an exclusive gala rather than diners in a restaurant. David's recommendations were spot-on, guiding us through an exquisite culinary journey that began with tantalizing entrees.
We opted for the Butter Poached Maine Lobster, which arrived beautifully plated; its vibrant colors immediately captured our attention. Each succulent morsel was delicately poached to perfection, resulting in a buttery richness that melted effortlessly on the palate. Accompanied by Parisienne gnocchi tossed lightly in a luscious sauce Americaine and garnished with fennel fronds, this dish is truly a celebration of both land and sea.
Next came the Liberty Farms Dry Aged Duck "A L'orange," an elegantly composed dish that exemplified traditional French cuisine reimagined with contemporary flair. The duck confit dirty rice offered depth and heartiness while harmonizing perfectly with the bitter orange notes of duck jusāa delightful dance between sweet and savory that left us craving more.
For those who appreciate beef at its finest, The Flannery Beef Hangar Steak did not disappoint eitherāit was expertly prepared to medium-rare perfection, boasting robust flavors enhanced by thoughtful seasoning. Each bite revealed tender juiciness indicative of quality sourcing paired with masterful cooking techniques.
To complement our meal further, we dove into their impressive wine list curated from regions around the globeāan adventure unto itself! Under David's guidance once again, we selected wines that elevated each course beautifullyāhis passion for wine pairing shone through as he shared insights about various vintages.
In conclusion, dining at The Sky Room transcended mere sustenance; it was an indulgent escape filled with exceptional dishes delivered by attentive staff like David who genuinely care about your experience. For anyone seeking both culinary excellence and visual splendor amidst opulent surroundingsāthe sky truly is not just the limit; it's merely your starting point here at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy girlfriend recommended this restaurant a while back and weād been trying (and failing) to snag a reservation ever since. Finally made it Friday night shout out to my bf for scoring an earlier dinner time because it all worked out perfectly.
The restaurant is tucked inside the newly renovated Fairmont Breakers Hotel and wow, they nailed the vibe. Think vintage glamour meets modern sophistication. The hostess was super sweet and sat us at a window table with panoramic views of the harbor and city, major date night energy!
Our server Jessica was a star. Friendly, knowledgeable, and she had the best menu recs that made our night. Service overall was seamless, everyone worked as a team, so we never had to flag anyone down. Attentive without hovering, which is rare!
Drinks: I started with an Old Fashioned made with Japanese whiskey (Jessica even offered to smoke it loved the extra flair). My bf went with the Smoke ān Mirrors super smoky, strong, and perfect for sipping. Later, I switched to white wine to pair with my meal.
Food highlights: Parker House Rolls & Cultured Butter ā Two warm little rolls to kick things off. Simple but perfect. Oysters with Green Tomato Mignonette ā Briny, fresh, and that tangy mignonette was spot-on. Marinated Local Tomatoes ā Jessicaās pick and she was right. The stracciatella cheese (aka the gooey inside of burrata) with tomatoes was so refreshing, totally converted us into stracciatella fans. Alaskan Halibut ā Almond crust gave it a delicate crunch, the Weiser potatoes & sorrel cream tied it all together. I legit cleaned my plate. Liberty Farms Duck Breast ā My bfās pick. Cooked perfectly pink with a flavorful sauce. He was impressed. Grilled Romano Beans ā The one miss for me. The olive tapenade & oven-dried tomatoes just didnāt hit. Would skip next time. Peach Flambeā Done table-side with all the drama. Fun presentation, tasty dessert. Next time Iām going for the banana flambe.
By the end, we both agreed that Sky Room absolutely impressed us from start to finish! From the setting to the service to the food, everything just flowed. Canāt wait to come back. Big thanks to Jessica and the whole crew for such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was our first visit since the renovation and reopening of the Sky Room. We had a fantastic time. We had a little scare on our way up to the restaurant when the elevator stopped midway and took us back down to the main level. Tip: 4 adults only in the elevator and you shouldn't have a problem. We made it for our 5pm reservation. We called a few times prior to change out reservation from 2 to 4 people and they were able to accommodate us although they told us a couple times they may not be able to accommodate the extra two people. We were pleased that they took all 4 of us. The restaurant was not full at the time of our reservation and I would recommend going early if possible.
The ambiance is spectacular. They did a great job with the themeing and keeping the old Hollywood feel. It is very classy and the views are as special as we remembered. Jessica was our server and she was fantastic. She made a few recommendations including the beets salad appetizer and duck entrƩe. We tried the black cod, hanger steak, crab cake, and rock fish appetizer as well. All were fantastic although we surprisingly loved the beets salad and all entrees were delicious. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle. We ended the night with cherries flambe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream made table side. The staff were very attentive and were filling our glasses and taking plates away as we finished them. The dinner is close to $75 - $100 per person depending on what you order for appetizer, drink, and dessert.
We also attend all the bars which I will leave separate reviews for l but overall we spent 4 hours at the Breakers and had a wonderful time.
Also, the valet goes from $10 to $50 if you stay over 4 hours which we did not know. They honored the $10 fee for us this time and we were thankful.
I was very happy to spend my birthday here and I can't wait...
