I normally don't share reviews, however I feel disappointed by the Edison management and want to share my experiences with others who are interested in renting from this property.
Comments on Security Deposit: I did not receive it back. Instead I was charged an additional $650+ on top of my security deposit. The charges were for a large list of hidden fees (I go into detail below).
Comments on Security and Safety: A homeless person was found wondering on one the floors. A fellow tenet shared his frighting experience of the homeless man banging on his unit door trying to get in. I had multiple packages stolen, with no assistance from the management team. The garage door was broken multiple times, allowing anyone in.
Comments on Management: Disappointing. I expected better service, considering this high cost of living. The team had poor communication. I felt like I was asking too much of them or intruding on their day when asking them about a stolen package, safety concern. They were also hard to reach via phone.
Comments on the 1 Bedroom Units: I paid close to $3,000 a month for a "1 bedroom." The Edison labeling these units as a "1 bedroom" is highly misleading. It's a studio. There's "a bedroom" zoned in the center of the unit with walls that don't touch the celling. In my opinion, I think they label these units as "1 bedrooms" to increase the rent cost. If you are interested, I highly recommend taking a tour before signing a lease. The layout isn't conducive to hosting guests. Guest can easily hear you in the bedroom and even bathroom. There's only one small window, so be prepared to use AC during hot days. This cost adds up high during the summer months.
Comments on Hidden Fees:
They charge you for Pest Control (never was shown proof of this service being done).
You are also charged a Service Fee every time you pay rent (never given an explanation why).
Cleaning Fee - $275 when you move out. I thought this was an expensive price and asked for the breakdown. Here it is:
Complete Clean - $180 Refrigerator Cleaning - $20 Deep Cleaning - $75 Why are these separate cost? Never was given an explanation.
They charged us $400 to repair as the management described "4 small holes" in the wall.
Comments on Parking: Parking is an additional fee of $100. You are only allowed one car. This made it challenging for myself and boyfriend to allocate parking. One of us had to park in a different parking lot about 0.4 miles away. No guest parking. Makes it difficult to host guests. Garage isn't secure. It was broken numerous times. I stored a cart under my car to bring groceries in and it was stolen. I stored shocks for my car under my car and it was stolen.
Edison is overpriced for the space, safety, and service you are receiving. You can do...

I lived here for a few years and things started out alright but have gone downhill once AMC took over the building.
In February my washer was not working and it took more than 10 days to get a response. I even contacted the maintenance number they provide AFTER I had already submitted a work order. I got a response they would look into it and a few more days go by without it being fixed OR updated on the progress. There was definitely evidence someone was in and out of my unit. Finally I had to speak with them in person and they agreed to swap it out the same day.
I can echo that you will not get your security deposit back and will be charged additionally at your move out, so be prepared to owe something (I was charged $780.70). Also, I was charged for utilities from 14+ months prior and initially told to "check my bank account" to see if it had been previously paid already. Upon further investigation, the team was aware that utilities were not paid for the month of April by any resident of the Edison and instead of informing us they made the decision to not inform anyone until move out. So they were apparently aware for 8+ months yet made it seem like they didn't know if I owed back utilities or not. I requested further records from them to confirm this was not previously paid and they were unable to provide ledgers of payment for the service months of the utility charges. I ended up just paying it as I don't trust that they wouldn't just send it to collections DESPITE the final conservice statement showing that there were no prior utilities owed. They use conservice to bill for utilities (which YOU pay a service fee for) yet when asked why the conservice shows past utilities owed for the 2 months prior to move out that would be due at move out, it does not reflect the charge in question from 14+ months prior.
You are required to pay $15/month for trash valet whether or not you use it. And because of the trash valet, there will be trash and cardboard boxes in the hallways on most days because they don't pick up daily and no one actually knows the pickup schedule.
Additionally, in January the entire building went without running water for 3 days and an additional 2 days after that without hot water. We got $20 credit for the inconvenience.......
On the upside, because they are completely unorganized, I was not actually on a lease for my last 6 months there as apparently no one knew it had ended in September. It worked out to my advantage because I was job hunting and obviously my rent...
Read moreI’ve been a resident at Edison for just about a year now. The apartment is beautiful. Floor to ceiling windows were the selling point for me. The apartment is smaller than I am used to but with the view outside it feels much bigger than other places. A perk to these windows- a beautiful sunset view every single night! It’s the best! The apartments have all new appliances and even a Nest thermostat that makes it super convenient. Other great amenities are the rooftop pool, gym, lounge areas and game rooms! You can’t beat it. The complex is animal friendly, which is difficult to find.. oh, and you can’t hear anyone above or beside you!! It’s so great not having to hear neighbors! . Staff is amazing too! First, Sergio is and always has been soooooo helpful. Anything you need, he’s got you. He always makes you feel welcomed whenever you run into him. Wish there were more people in this world like him. He’s wonderful! Jeanine in leasing is AMAZING as well! She has been my favorite since being a resident here. She’s always friendly, warm and inviting. She’s always present and attentive to our needs. It’s nice to have community reps who actually care about us and make us feel at home. I can’t forget about Lucy, I’ve heard great things about her. Everyone seems to enjoy her as our new property manager. I’ve only ran into her a couple of times so I haven’t been able to chat much but she seems very nice and was very open to introducing herself.
I’d recommend Edison Apartments to anyone who is looking. Staff is amazing. The residents who live her are all great too. We all know eachother so it’s really nice. It’s not like you are living amongst strangers.. Agh, can’t forget! THE MAINTENANCE CREW! Anytime I’ve had any concerns of simple fixes or anything to be looked at, they were so quick to handle all my needs within the day, if not the following. They are super quick at responding and very attentive and communicative.. something you neverrrrr find in apartment complexes!! Everyone deserves a five star, but kudos to them! Oh yeah, another perk.... there is cleaning/house keeping staff present every single morning. They keep everywhere super clean and tidy so cleanliness is nothing you have to worry about. The place is great. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for...
