I came here on a Monday afternoon and no one was here. The store was open but with no employees. I browsed around for about 15 minutes before a small older lady came in and just said if I needed help to let her know and she left me alone again. A few moments later a female popped in, ran to the back and came back out and left. I assumed she worked there as well based on the fact she went to the inventory. I'm thinking..ooookay! They have a large selection crammed into a very small store. The prices are marked up anywhere from $20-$70 more than what the Dr. Martens online store charges. Not sure if that's normal. Sadly the boots i wanted were marked at $300 instead of the online price of $230. Mind you this is full price on the website without any discounts applied. I left to Posers next door and found the small old lady and the taller younger one who both popped into the store. They just glanced at me and that was it. No one said hello, or greeted me in any way at all. So I left and that was it! The stores in Venice and Santa monica have a very nice, upbeat cheerful, diligent and helpful staff. Not to mention, a much more inviting atmosphere! Please attend those locations if you are in the LA area trying to go to a doc marten store. This place...vibes are off, employees are rude, prices are marked up over...
Read moreThis is not an official doc Marten store. An associate at the Santa Monica location explained to me that this location is a re-seller, ie they buy left over stock/ shoes/ bags and up price them. I went in a few weeks ago and bought the Iced Metallic 1461 in the pink and paid $149 for them, at the time it seemed weird buy I played it off because i'd been wanting these shoes for months. I went on the official website and saw they were only $105, I was a little pissed. The guy at Santa Monica said if you want discontinued docs go to this store but remember you will be up priced, the did have the complete Adventure Time line from a few years ago when I went. The guy was cool but he stared at my boyfriend and I the entire time we were in there, not in a creepy way but it was moderately...
Read moreAfter years of wearing ECCO shoes at work, I thought I would change things up a bit and try the Dr Martens oxfords. When I first put them to work, they were super stiff and hurt like hell where the show flexes just below the laces. I didn’t give up on them and wore them just a few hours a day until they broke in. It’s been a little over a week and they are now super comfortable. They are true to size and the folks in the store were very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend these shoes and I will buy these again...
