A very delayed review but I was reminded of how mediocre this stay was and how non-responsive Daniel, the owner or manager, was. The facility functions more as a mid to long-term student hostel. However, they book out rooms online for short term stays. This is how I found myself here. We all make bad life choices.
Weeks before my stay and before I knew better, I had asked if I could extend my stay by a day. I got a brief text acknowledgment but nothing that would really seem like it was in the books. When I inquired about payment for the extra day, he said we could sort it out in person because he couldnât change my online reservation. I tried to get some formal payment arrangement in place to safeguard the extra night booking but no response. After repeated polite inquiries every couple of days, he finally message less than a week beforehand to say he could no longer accommodate the extra night. By then, I had figured it out and had booked myself a one night stay at a Hilton property. However, I kept the reservation for the remaining days because I couldnât get a refund.
On my arrival date, I arrived at the residence around 3 pm and let myself in the door per supplied instructions (that I had to be pro active about requesting). I had received my room assignment but there was no indication on where I could get a key. There was no one to ask because of very limited office hours. I sent a message and there was noresponse for hours. I finally got my response after I had finished dinner and only because I pointedly pinged again. Fortunately I had a vehicle to escape and leave my bag in the trunk. However, I never got a response to my inquiry on if I could park in one of the spots in the front.
I had a room that had a broken window (ie. Noisy) that wouldnât shut. Other residents told me I was lucky I didnât have to share a bathroom. Bathroom was dirty nevertheless. Bed furnishings were dollar store quality. The entire building smells of mildew and shattered dreams. The fire alarm or carbon monoxide detector was beeping constantly and no one came to change the battery despite being told someone would do it. Weâre talking three days of obnoxiously loud and escalating beeps. I would have happily changed the alarm myself if I had anything to stand on besides a broken chair. To top it all off, the ancient heating register was making so much noise that I genuinely wondered if the alarm beeping was an alert on carbon monoxide rather than a low battery. But at least the window that wouldnât close ensured there was some ventilation. Also, on my last day when I was scanning the room to see if I had forgotten something, I noticed a disabled smoke alarm on top of the closet. Either a previous guest had accomplished what I couldnât or the owners are hoping people arenât too worried about guests escaping peril in a timely mannerâŠ
If you have a very limited budget, earplugs, no sense of smell, and the patience of Job, stay here. If you expect your stay to be a step up from sleeping on a rustic cot in a dodgy camp house, this place will not meet that standard. I was never so glad as to have left this place for the Hilton. I might have even hugged the belllman there.
There are worse places to stay but you usually need to be very down on your luck to be there. To be clear, I usually have no issues or unrealistic expectations on budget accommodations. I had booked this place originally to be close to Wiltern theatre and other more central locationsâŠ. Hotel and short term private stay options are VERY limited in the area. But after this stay, I actually wonder if âDanielâ is really multiple disinterested and distant owners who donât actually think they need to communicate with their guests or tenants. I truly donât think there is any semblance of health and safety. Or even any desire to address very...
Read moreWould rate it lower if I could. Unless your standards are at rock bottom do not stay and this disgusting excuse for an apartment building. And when I mean disgusting I MEAN IT. Black mold in my personal shower, multiple rat infestations that took months to resolve, cockroach infestations, it always smells like cigarette smoke despite the no smoking signs and kitchen is always filthy. The front door has broken multiple times so literally anyone could enter the building and the walls are so paper thin good luck getting any sleep.
The manager is incredibly irresponsible. Just on the first day I arrived at the agreed upon date and was told to wait hours until he arrived. Never even told me the code for the door, thank god one of the tenants let me in or I would have been stranded outside (didnât have a car). Extremely bad at responding to you and the âoffice hoursâ are complete bs as he just replies when he feels like it.
Also do not expect to get your deposit back. Itâs been over 5 weeks and after weeks of waiting I was finally told Iâd have an answer over a week ago. Nothing. Absolutely awful experience. Whatever money you think youâre saving with the low rates youâll pay with your health and sanity. Take my advice and avoid this dump...
Read moreWe asked for a deposit back that we placed for a room for our daughter, but college was closed due to COVID. They have refused to return the deposit, which is against what the government has in place to protect people during the pandemic. This is fraud, they are keeping the money. Do not stay here or give them any deposit because they will keep it. Look at other reviews for this place before you...
