Customer experience was an absolute nightmare.
I had a similar experience to the reviewer below complaining about the neck-tattooed barista, but mine was surreal.
I had a business meeting there, and my partner went to the wrong Tom N Toms down the street. While waiting for him to walk the couple of blocks to this location, I asked the employee if I could please get the key to the bathroom. He looked at me, oddly suspiciously, and said it's for customers only.
Me: I understand; I am a customer; my partner mistakenly went to the other Tom n Toms down the street; may I use it while I wait?
Employee: You're not a customer. Did you buy anything?
Me: I will buy something, I have a meeting here. But I'm waiting for him as he went to the wrong place, may I use it before he arrives?
Employee: How do I know you won't just leave afterwards?
Me: I can leave a deposit if you like?
Employee: No, I don't want a deposit, I want you to buy something.
Me: I just offered money as a promise to buy something. Do you think I came here well-dressed to steal a free bathroom usage?
Employee: Now that you're treating me with disrespect, I don't want to let you use it.
Me: I'm sorry, was asking you may I please use the bathroom disrespectful?
Then the tattooed-neck bleach-haired guy looked looked me up and down stuck out his arm theatrically, and said, "Just go."
Me: Excuse me, should I leave?
Employee: I said, just go! Just go to the bathroom already.
I took the key and went.
I came back, laid the key on the counter where it had been, and muttered thanks without looking him in the eye.
Employee: You should say, "Thank you for letting me use the bathroom!"
I'm not even angry, just amazed at the surreal experience I was having.
Then my partner arrived, and we ordered a coffee. The employee then kept talking to us, saying, you know, I had to say that, that's our policy; last night a guy came in and used the bathroom and then walked out without buying anything!
The horror.
I got a frappucino thing that was called something like a Tomuccino, that was too ice-clumpy to come up through a straw, so I had to spoon it. It was also quite creamy, so I asked for a cup of tap water on the side, like you can get at any coffeshop, anywhere.
This time the helpful woman at the counter offered to sell me a tap water, and she'd be glad to ring me up.
I went...
Read moreSmall cafe with great drinks and food. Here is a list of everything my friend and I tried: Peanut Cream Top 🥜: super delicious, you'll love it if you love anything peanut-y Pistachio Cream Top 🌰: also delicious, but I personally would rather go for Starbucks pistachio cream cold brew given the price & size Pesto sandwich 🥪: 👍 Pumpkin nutella bread 🎃: it tasted more like pumpkin & cinnamon bread. We couldn't taste the nutella at all Matcha latte 🍵: pretty average, I wish the flavor of the matcha was a bit deeper. It was a bit too milky for my taste Vienna latte ☕: comes with a Lotus cookie on top. The cream was a lot thicker than your average einspanner (I'm actually not sure if they were going for the typical einspanner here) but it was definitely delicious
A little pricey for my standards but I guess pretty typical for LA. A bit dusty inside, too - my water cup kept on collecting dust particles while we were there. Free parking on...
Read moreTried this for the first time because my go to spot was closed and they’re open later. It’s a block away from the Wiltern, in the heart of ktown and has its own lot but it’s all valet. It’s in the same plaza as a kbbq restaurant.
The space actually fits quite a lot of people and was packed when I went, with every table and chair practically taken. Lots of people were working on their laptops but it wasn’t a quiet working space either.
I got the Vienna latte and the Ferrero Rocher latte. I appreciated that the barista told me that the Ferrero Rocher was a smaller cup than the standard size before I paid, just so I was aware. The Vienna latte was delicious and good enough to satisfy my craving for it since my usual spot is where I usually get it. The Ferrero was fun as it had crackling chocolate you could break and was good to try but I probably would get something else next time. My friend ordered a matcha with the pistachio foam and said it...
