Rosemary Katsu Sando + Waffle Fries / pork katsu, berry katsu sauce, yuzu cabbage, mustard aioli, milk bread, waffle fries - 5⭐! Spicy Tuna Yubu / spicy tuna, rice, marinated tofu wrap - 5⭐! Bulgogi Beef Yubu / bulgogi beef, rice, marinated tofu wrap - 5⭐!
Katsu Bar is a Japanese-Korean Fusion fast casual sandwich and noodle franchise and this location is in the heart of Koreatown. Katsu is a type of breaded cutlet made with panko. Katsu Bar absolutely nailed it with their rosemary pork katsu sando. It was one of my favorite sandwiches I have eaten all year and also one of my favorite overall dishes this year. It was that good.
The rosemary pork katsu sando had berry katsu sauce, crispy and light panko breaded pork cutlet, yuzu marinated cabbage on the milk bread. It was really, really good. I could eat that sandwich every day for months and not get bored.
I ordered the combo plate and the waffle fries were excellent. I probably could have stopped there and been quite satisfied but I also wanted to try out their yubu, which is also known as inari sushi. The basic version of yubu is rice wrapped in marinated bean curd. Katsu Bar upped their version by offering a variety of popular toppings. I tried the bulgogi beef and the spicy tuna. Both were excellent. I was so full after eating here.
The restaurant is in a food-centric mini mall on 6th street. It looked like they had valet parking but when I pulled up there was a curb spot so I didn't try their parking lot. It looked easy to park but the valet might charge. Katsu Bar is in the corner and has large windows on three sides. The dining room had a nice, stylish look to it. Everyone working at the counter or in the kitchen were nice and friendly.
Overall, a great place for a meal. I would love to come back here or try their other locations so I can see what their noodles are like and to try more...

Katsu Bar, with locations in the OC and in LA’s Koreatown, is a great option for an extensive menu focusing on katsu. Everything I had from them was amazing! They offer many types of katsu, including chicken, pork, beef, and mushroom, so there’s something for everyone’s taste.
Dill Egg Salad Sando: Probably my favorite of the meal, though I love egg salad so I might be biased lol.
Caprese Katsu Sando: The berry katsu sauce totally elevated this sando from your more basic options found at other places!
Apple Chili Sandwich: This sandwich is more like a fried chicken sandwich or burger than your typical katsu sando, as it’s just one piece and served on a brioche bun rather than three pieces on milk bread. This is a good option for when you’re craving something a little more unique than the hot chicken sandos that are everywhere in LA. The waffle fries were great too!
Kimchi Mandu Curry Plate: Comforting curry and yummy dumplings with just enough spice.
Crisscut Rosé Tteokbokki with Katsu: Loved the spice and the textures of the rice cakes and noodles. So flavorful!
Yuba Pockets: I chose to get an assortment of 4, and I liked the Cheese Buldak and the Spicy Cali Roll the best. These are the perfect appetizer to share or to keep for yourself!
Strawberry Sando: OMG, the perfect dessert. The fluffy cloud of cream would’ve been enough to make me order it anyway, but I loved the strawberry shortcake-esque flavor that the strawberries gave it!
Banana Milk: Love that this is housemade, a nice treat to quell the spice!
Overall, Katsu Bar offers delicious food with TONS of options, and I’d definitely recommend...
Read moreI recently visited Katsu Bar in LA for dinner with a friend, and sadly, the experience was disappointing. When I was trying to place my order, I could barely hear the cashier due to the loud music blaring from the kitchen. The noise level was so high that it was even difficult for the cashier to hear me. To make matters worse, the kitchen staff were talking and shouting loudly, adding to the chaos. I asked if the music could be turned down a bit, and while the cashier kindly relayed my request to the kitchen staff, they completely ignored it. She apologized, but the atmosphere had already been ruined. After sitting there for ten minutes, we decided to leave. Instead of enjoying a delicious dinner in a relaxing environment after a long day at work, I left with a headache due to the unbearable noise. I’ve been coming to Katsu Bar regularly, and the food has always been fantastic, but this time, the atmosphere was so off-putting that I couldn’t even finish my dinner. It felt like the employees were more interested in working in a nightclub than in creating a pleasant dining experience. I hope the management addresses this issue, as it really detracts from what should be a...
