New! Just opened on 11/27.
Review 11/28: overall 4 stars Got a takeout of just their chicken strip. Has a salty, onion flavor with a good crunch. Decent portion for the price. But it doesn’t come with any sauce or side dishes. Sauce is extra cost. We paid for ours but it was left out from our takeout order. Service was nice but they just opened so they’re still trying to figure things out so it can be slow when placing orders. Open space with causal dining in option. Parking can be a pain but there’s valet or street parking option. Takeout is free parking for limited time.
Will update review when I try their other dishes. ————————— Updated review 12/09: Went back today to get their Jaws combo and basic gimbap. Overall 2.5 stars
Tteokbokki: WAY TOO SPICY. Has good toppings like quail egg, fish cake and glass noodles but I had such bad stomach pain from the spice and going to the restroom was hell 🔥💩. They didn’t offer options to make it less spicy. The taste was okay… Chicken strips: dry and hard Mandu: soggy and flavorless Kimmari: crunchy and delicious Kimbap: big and good but way overpriced
Jaws combo was around $30+ and the basic kimbap was $8+. I think both were too pricy for being fast food. The food is ready within 5-10 minutes as most are pre-made.
I would come to the the other dishes but wound not get the teokkboki again as it was just pure pain. Staff was still nice but they were still working on being trained. —————— 떡볶이 매워서 기절하는줄알앗어요 맛은 특별히 맛있지는안지만 괜찬고, 가격은 분식음식치고는...
Read moreAt last, it's my first time dining at Jaws Topokki in KTown. The ambiance is very spacious, vibrant and inviting with adequate seating. I am also fond of the cleanliness of the restaurant, which lures anyone to dine in at this precious spot. I immediately placed my order of Chicken Galbi rice bowl. It is decently priced below $15 and comes with a side of sautéed vegetables and miso soup. Service was pretty quick (approximately a 7 minute wait) and the cashier was cordial enough to bring my order to my table.
My rating for the Chicken Galbi is 4/5. The chicken was grilled enough but was a bit dry. However, the fluffy calrose rice, galbi sauce and sautéed veggies saved the entire dish. For me, the side soup was 3.5/5 because it was a bit salty for my taste. On the bright side, I was able to adjust it by adding some hot water from their water dispenser. Overall, I still enjoyed my meal and nothing went to waste. On my next visit, I would love to try their beef bulgogi bowl, as well as their extensive kimbap selection. Jaws Topokki is a great place for a quick, healthy and...
Read moreI finally tried this place after seeing photos and videos on social media and it did not disappoint! Their menu consists of a variety of Korean street food and I wasn't sure what to try but the staff recommended her favs, JAWS COMBO and GIMBAP.
The JAWS COMBO came with your choice of spicy rice cakes soup or topokki with 3 sides: fried chicken strips, fried seaweed rolls and fried dumplings. Huge portion and 4 people could easily share it. The topokki soup is loaded with soft and chewy rice cakes, fish cakes, cheese and other stuff. It was spicy ,slightly sweet and I was told you're supposed to dip the fried food in it and gosh, it was sooo good!
I tired the SHRIMP GIMBAP and surprised how big it was. Packed with veggies, shrimp and very little rice. It was really good too. I also got the SOONDAE or blood sausage for my mom because it's her favorite and she liked it a lot!
Service was great, the interior was bright and inviting. Will definitely be back whenever I visit LA.
NOTE: Parking is limited since it's located inside a small business plaza but there's also...
