I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights during the peak Summer season, it was adequate as far as being a place to sleep but it’s defiantly bare bones. The room was large and had hardwood floors, the bathroom looked recently renovated as well. The room was dark, with most of the furniture being black and the only natural light was the (broken) shutter shades. The mattresses were thin and hard and unprotected by anything other than the sheets which were also very thin. The sheets were clean, however, the mattress was stained on the sides. There were no bed bugs or roaches that I saw in the room, only the occasional small spider. The A/C worked but looked dingy and my friend who has allergies had trouble being in the room with it on. The shower had some mold on the trim but the bathroom was otherwise very clean. Good water pressure. The basic shampoo/lotion/soap were complimentary and plentiful.
Housekeeping was great and brought fresh sheets and towels daily or as needed. The microwave worked, but the fridge didn’t work very well. It was fine for storing drinks but I wouldn’t put perishable foods in it. The TV worked and had HD channels, there was a large full-length mirror in the room and desk area which were nice. Some of the furniture and flooring looked like they needed to be repaired/replaced but it was usable.
The check-in and check-out process were very easy, no issues there and there were no surprise charges. Parking is free for guests which is great because a lot of places in LA/Hollywood charge a lot for nightly parking. Be aware though, that there isn’t enough parking if the hotel is full. Didn’t encounter any issues while at the hotel with other guests, just some kids making noise one morning. Nothing too serious, and the road noise wasn't bad at all. The pool is small but clean, the pool chairs were dirty though, but there were towels for guests to use at the pool. There is free Wi-Fi in the rooms but I never used it since cellphone service was great in the area.
As far as location, it’s about a 2-mile walk from the Hollywood center or a 7-10 minute Uber. Cheaper than staying inside the city center, although I do feel like it’s a bit overpriced during peak season. Lots of restaurants in the area, and there is a grocery store directly across the street from the hotel. The Metro is also right by it. There’s a small convince store located in the lobby but I didn’t go in. They have someone on the property 24/7 and I was able to check in late at night as well as check out late at night. I called in advance to ask some questions and they were very nice on the phone.
Overall, I think for the $100-$150 per night price range it’s pretty good. It looks better than some of the surrounding hotels/motels for sure. If you just need a place to sleep and store your luggage while you explore the city I think you’ll be satisfied. If you’re wanting a hotel with lots of amenities you’ll probably need to look in a higher price range.
Pros: No bugs, clean beds/floors, microwave/fridge, pool, free parking, free wi-fi, there are no additional charges for things so the price is “all-inclusive”, I never felt unsafe during my stay
Cons: It’s a bit far to walk in the heat to attractions, not in the best part of town, hard beds, some furniture/floors/etc are showing their age, no...
Read moreStayed from 12/1/23 to 12/3/23, was supposed to check out the 4th but my stay was THAT bad. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at and I have stayed at motels and hostels.
First things first, the front desk personnel are extremely rude and have zero sense of customer service. They speak to you as if you’re annoying them by checking in or asking anything. The first night was very cold also so I went to the front desk for blankets. The very rude front desk lady said “don’t you already have blankets?” I said yes but we want another quilt since it’s cold. She responded with “the heater in the room doesn’t work? If you’re cold then the heater on.” I said yes there is a heater but we want blankets and told me they don’t give out extras and the blankets in the room are “enough”.
About an hour later I called and asked for blankets again. The heater in the room is an extremely loud me janky heater that is basically screaming at you when it’s on. The front desk lady said we will be there in 5 minutes. 30+ min later I call again and she said she will check and bring blankets in 5 minutes. Over an hour later still nothing. I called again and another lady said they don’t have any extras and housekeeping is all out. A hotel that doesn’t have extra blankets???? (Not to mention the stains on the sheets and dirty decorative pillows already in the room!!!!!!!)
On the first night there was a COCKROACH in the tub, prompting a friend of mine in another room who ALSO found a cockroach in her room to move to another hotel. Like an idiot I stayed at this one. There’s also no safe in the room, extra toilet paper, and the floors were filthy. The remote and tv did not work, the tv just turned on but no signals no matter how much I tried to get it to work.
ALSO the biggest issue I had probably despite the cockroaches, was the ENTIRE TIME the toilet didn’t flush. Housekeeping was well aware and instead of fixing the issue or putting us in another room, THEY LEFT A PLUNGER IN THE BATHROOM SO WE CAN DEAL WITH IT.
When my friend checked out she said others were in the lobby complaining about a lot similar things.
I was supposed to check out the 4th and checked out at night of the 3rd very late, distressed and the man at front desk was rude, didn’t care about the complaints and said “I took note of everything and will tell management”. This man didn’t write anything down, and just snatched my room key. He kept saying they can’t do anything about the issues since management int around.
He offered another room but another filthy room with cockroaches and plungers? No thanks.
I haven’t begun the process to get my money back but I URGE anyone who is looking to stay in Hollywood to stay far AWAY from this hotel and look for hotels on sunset blvd or West Hollywood.
This area is also sketchy as hell and not safe to walk around alone at night. The ONLY positive about the location is all the Thai food available but none of that was enough to compensate for the filth and how...
Read moreDO NOT BOOK! I sincerely am in disbelief of the experience we have encountered during our stay at The Dixie Hollywood at 5410 Hollywood Blvd. On our last couple of nights. It is unacceptable for any guest to feel treated poorly, and I am truly frustrated regarding this. My family and I arrived to our room #135 at 11PM 9/27/2024 or around midnight 09/28/2024. While I was parking the car my wife came to me and told me that the bathroom roof/ceiling was leaking and it smelled really horrible, also that the leakage looked yellow and brown. I immediately went to tell the front desk and he said” okay I will come take a look and give you another room”. I went to the room to tell my family that they will give us another room - I took a look and everything that was on the bathroom counter was drenched in all the leakage that was coming from the ceiling and the stench was so horrible - we started packing all of our things and getting ready to go to another room. The front desk receptionist came to our room and said “ there is no rooms available and asked if we could stay another night in the room until the morning “ - I immediately said “are you serious? No!” How are you going to ask if we can stay in the room with our two kids- a room that has human feces all over the bathroom - it is contaminated and disgusting! the smell is horrendous! The bathroom is no longer accessible! - he went on to say “there is a room available but the guest are checking in late , let me go see what I can find out” - He came back to say that the guest are checking in late and coming from the UK - also the owner is sleeping because it was 1am - I am not sure what the people coming in from the UK had to do with us. We took all of our belongings outside the room except what was in the bathroom and contaminated and waited again as he left to figure something out. All he did was send the security on site to us to speak to us and apologize for “this”. He also called the security’s on site manager, Freddy, with FalconX security services to try to speak with us and come to an agreement, making it seem as if we were the problem here. The room we paid to stay in from 9/21/2024-9/29/2024 now has human feces from the people in the room upstairs to us coming out of the ceiling in our bathroom, how is this something we caused or our issue?
The treatment we have received during this whole inconveniencing and frustrating situation has been awful and inhumane. We called around several hotels near by to try to find a room for us all and none have availability as it is to no surprise due to the area and being a weekend. Our two kids slept in the back seat of our rental car, a Jeep, using neck pillows to prop their head up and sleep, with no blankets or comfortability. Everything that happened after was unjustified. So extremely frustrating our trip ended like this. LA is beautiful and it was our first time here, but our last in this hotel. Extremely in utter disgust at the way we...
