I discovered Hot 8 because I was reading reviews for Core Power Yoga which I have attended classes for years when traveling. One of the reviews recommended trying Hot 8 Yoga instead. I’d never heard of them since I live in Florida. Since I’ve been doing hot yoga for almost 20 years, I had to try it. I signed up for a class and was texted and emailed with a welcome message and asking about my specific needs. When I arrived for the Hot Power Fusion Class, I was immediately greeted and they were super friendly and gave me a tour. The studio is super clean. The rooms smell good. The floor has a nice, grippy texture. I got the towel and mat bundle which is a reasonable price. The room was nice and hot and music was good. It wasn’t too crowded. The cold towels after class is a nice touch. There are free lockers and the bathroom is well-stocked and expansive.
I did make one mistake by choosing a class only by time. Hot Power Fusion classes incorporate a lot of Bikram poses including his signature triangle pose. I started with Bikram two decades ago but it is very triggering for me to practice his moves now. If you don’t know about him, do some research. He’s a monster. I guess that I was surprised that especially in California long after #MeToo that his specific poses were used. It was hard for me to concentrate. I made this mistake two years ago taking a class in Indiana that still used Bikram poses but I expected it more there (not that it wasn’t as triggering) because it’s the Midwest. All of the studios I use in Florida where I live don’t use his poses and I never remember this happening at Core Power Yoga.
I’ll be back but will chose more wisely to not chose a class that still uses...
Read moreHot 8 Yoga lives up to its name. There were 8 hotties there, for sure. And if you stayed long enough, you became a hottie, too. I’ve got the Hot 8 yoga experience for the first time. It was one to remember. The location is good, with safe underground Parking. The clean space gives one the feel of a high-end day spa. We entered from the garage, and the door to the spa was a little tricky to find.
Once we got in, the staff was smiling and welcoming. Our group was supplied with everything we needed for an excellent Hot 8 yoga experience; the cool, eucalyptus towels made a big difference for me
After a few failed attempts at tree pose, I finally got my balance, and I could rise above the heat into a meditative state to help me complete this session. I can’t lie for a moment; I thought about quitting as I became a hottie, too. I felt a little disoriented after I left the hot box room, as one feels after a full body massage. I’m glad I stayed until the end and was offered a face and bath towel to take a much-needed shower before I left.
Overall, it was a 10 out of 10 experience; the ambiance was an East meets West cultural fusion experience. Hot 8 Yoga reminded me of a spa in a five-star hotel. It had all the amenities that One could ask for, and it had lockers with customizable combinations. I am thankful for the heat and steam and for what it took out of me because I had one of the best nights of sleep, and I felt like a hottie the next day. ...
Read moreI signed up for the 7-day trial to see if yoga would help me recover from an injury on the suggestion of my Doctor. Day 1 was great—the staff was welcoming, I was shown around, and told that mats and towels were included with the trial. The class was excellent.
On Day 2, however, a different front desk staff member greeted me with an aggressive sales pitch. She made it sound like I couldn’t take the class unless I committed to a membership immediately, and when I asked if I could take the class and decide later she seemed furious and tried to charge me $18 for mat and towel rentals—items I was told were included. When I questioned it, she was dismissive and condescending, even making a rude personal comment in front of others.
My intuition kicked in and I told her I didn't like how she was treating me, and I left without attending the class. Whether it was a misunderstanding or intentional pressure, the inconsistency with what I was told and the hostility made me feel unwelcome. I would’ve gladly paid if the terms were clearly stated upfront, but instead I felt bullied and disrespected.
If management values trial customers, I hope they’ll address this. I won’t be returning unless I’m offered the missed day and assured I won’t have to deal with that staff member again. In the meantime, I’ll be trying...
