Have a bit of a mixed review so I'll give my pros and cons.
Cons: If you are looking to rent in the west side of the complex or above the Sanctuary Fitness Gym space then I suggest you look on the other side of the apartment complex. The reasons are more about the amount of noise that is generated from that Sanctuary Fitness gym that is on the ground level, not the tiny small gym that is part of The View. The Sanctuary Fitness gym is just obnoxiously loud and they do not seem to listen to feedback provided from The View Management. The gym starts classes at 6AM which then you will start hearing the speakers from the gym inside your apartment while trying to sleep. That goes on from 6AM to 9AM, then 12PM to 1PM and then from 5PM to 8PM almost daily, including Sundays. Then you better hope that the gym is not doing workouts using weights, ropes or +100lbs tractor style tires because then you won't just be hearing the instructors yelling inside your apartment, but then you will also be greeted by loud slamming sounds DAILY.
They just don't have enough insulation within their Gym and they absolutely do not listen to The View Management about the noise they generate. They will usually just say that it's not them causing their noise, and blame the slamming and loud noises to the tiny gym inside The View complex, which doesn't even have any large enough free weights to cause that much noise.
I feel that at some point if The View management can't reach an agreement with Sanctuary Gym, then GreyStar Management or whoever leases the space to the Gym needs to be involved to resolve the noise issues. I've tried to reach out to upper management on greystar but good luck trying to find any email or phone where anyone will do anything about it.
That's enough about that gym.... other nuances and annoyances are with the Elevators. They constantly break or go out of sync where both elevators visit every floor where the button was pushed, rather than only 1 goes to the floor where the button was pushed. Like a normal elevator...
The garage gate has broken several times and takes weeks for it to be fixed.
Management says that they have a strict policy about guests that they are allowed to bring to the pools, 2 guests per resident. But more often than not, the pool is full of guests during hot summer days rather than residents being able to enjoy their perks.
Pros: Management has changed quite a bit the last few years, but they for the most part are always nice, they listen and try to help out whenever there's a problem.
Maintenance also has always been quite quick whenever something has broken inside my apartment. Especially recently, I usually get someone within a few hours of a ticket created to fix my issue.
Having a large lobby is great!
For the most part all areas are clean, but it could be improved as there's a lot of dogs in the property and not all of them can control themselves.
Update 5/6/25
Pretty much more of the same. Same ol elevator having issues and both stopping at each floor. Having to wait sometimes 5 minutes for it is not ideal.
But again lowering my score to 1 star since management can't seem to be able to quiet down the connected gym (Sanctuary gym). They are apparently above the law and can make as much noise as they want and all they get is a talk and reminder by Janey (the view manager) to "please quiet down" almost daily.
If they truly wanted to preserve the peace and quiet that one deserves in their own home, they would not allow such a nuisance of a gym to operate daily (7+ hours) without addressing all the weight slamming and loud speakers from the instructors and their music at any...
Read moreAs former residents of unit 1401 do yourself a favor and stay away from The View. One star is too many. The building literally made us sick both physically and mentally.
To start, we experienced light headedness, respiratory issues and rashes all over our body as soon as we moved into our apartment. After ruling out diet, laundry, etc. did mold tests in our apartment and it came back with alarming results. Informed management multiple times about our issues and were completely ignored. When we finally insisted they come to inspect, test and address the issue maintenance came up with alcohol wipes, wiped down the ledges of windows and considered the matter closed. We opened the windows to help with airflow but because our apt faced Wilshire the street noise from cars and the homeless encampments across the street was not great.
And then in February a pipe burst that affected multiple units from the 14th down to the 6th floor. Our apt was flooded and personal items were damaged. Management promised all residents that they would keep us informed of the progress every step of the way and our personal belongings would be kept safe. Needless to say we weren't provided any updates for weeks and emails were again ignored. Only when we confronted management in-person did we then get email updates but then radio silence soon after. This went on for months.
When management finally started to repair units (which they did not inform residents of) it was again a complete nightmare. Management decided that the flooded carpets from an unknown water source that had been sitting there for months was okay to reuse and only needed to be steam cleaned. We insisted, even offered to pay for a new carpeting out of our pocket, but management said no. So even after notifying them of our mold issues and the flooding event management wanted to save a few bucks and reuse the carpeting. So whoever is living in 1401 or any other affected units just know your carpet is likely reused, flooded, moldy carpeting. See pictures attached of the flooded apt and them reinstalling the same carpeting (but they gave us new padding lol). They didn't even clean the apartment before reinstalling the carpeting or putting up new drywall, etc.
And before they even reinstalled the carpeting management decided this was an opportune time to replace the rest of the wood flooring in our unit, even though it was not affected by the flood. Our personal belongings were tossed onto the patio, into the moldy bedrooms, into the hallways, etc and more items were damaged. And when we moved back in for a month to pack up our things the apt was not repaired. Closet doors still showed signs of water damage, walls were still damaged, not fully painted, etc. We did not care since we were moving out but they still charged us for all of this in our move-out bill. Just unbelievable greed and total disregard for the well being of residents.
We moved out as soon as we could secure a new home and our health improved immediately.
Another reviewer Kevin said it best: "I implore anyone considering residency in this establishment to proceed with extreme caution. The disregard for tenant welfare, coupled with the incompetence of management in addressing fundamental issues, renders this place unfit for habitation. Save yourself the anguish and steer clear of this veritable hell hole masquerading as a...
Read moreAfter reading all the reviews, all I can say is WOW. Not to take away from anyone’s experience, but I use to live in a building where management could only be contacted via email and we had no other office staff aside from a maintenance guy. I am more than grateful to have an office staff I can come downstairs to speak to at any given point during the day. This place is a whole lot less ghetto than most.
My experience has been great since moving in. Kaay, the leasing manager I believe, was extremely kind and helpful in answering all of the questions I had prior to moving in and even after. Most people would’ve gotten annoyed by all my questions, but nope! Kaay was more than happy to make sure I had all my questions answered and I really appreciated that. Touring around the area was hard because there’s a lot of AI leasing bots now a days. I will say, upper management should be ashamed of themselves to leave that poor girl running around on her own on the weekend.
This building isn’t too loud or parties its ass off, like they do in Hollywood, which is a huge plus. Mostly quiet and neighbors seem fairly respectful of apartment living. I do really appreciate that we get email updates on a lot of the things that happen in the building. We would’ve been lucky if my previous building even taped a piece of paper on the building front door.
The manager is very sweet but seems to not be able to make a lot of decisions without upper management approval. I do feel for her, she’s just the messenger that’s consistently being shot at. Overall, I’ve never really had any issues. Most things are done within a timely manner. She’s offered me pizza when I stopped by the office once and even offered to pay for my coffee when I accidentally missed the coffee happy hour by 1 minute. Seems like a sweet woman just trying her best.
For a period of time it seemed we didn’t have maintenance for a while, but we have maintenance staff now. He was able to fix my dishwasher, but I had to wait for a part to be ordered. It was communicated and everything turned out okay.
Amenities: the gym is probably the one I use the most. It’s not big, but it has everything I need to stay in shape and not spend $50+ on a membership nearby. The pool has been under construction for quite some time, I will say, the noise has been a little annoying in the mornings, but not enough to really complain about. It looks like it’s about to be ready just in time for the warm weather, so I am excited about that. Sanctuary fitness is next door and it would be really cool if residents had benefits there, they’re definitely a lot more expensive than your standard gym.
I think the only down side is that they do turn the water off more than I’d like. I usually plan ahead to not be home so it’s been manageable. Hopefully that’s something we can work on.
Overall, I’ve been content with my experience here and think that the office staff is doing a whole lot more than “staring at a screen” like a previous review stated. 50/50 it seems hectic down there depending on the day. I hope people learn to give some grace or...
