Troy works in enrollment, when I called after returning back to school 11 years after last being enrolled and having you discontinue because my sons father fell ill to terminal cancer I reached my top enrollment because they had been leaving messages to call on my voicemail. I had enrolled and did my placement exam and had my official transcripts sent. Troy told me he didn’t know why they call me and he didn’t have any answers and there was nothing he could tell me. I have voicemails I had explain asking me to call back this number. I ask him his name he said Troy I explained that I had an email where they also said they didn’t have my transcripts. When I ask for his agent ID he refused and told me he would be disconnecting the call. My concern is as a woman that is middle age returning to school while I have to college students one at U of L and one at WKU , being treated so poorly in Louisville Ky where us wanting our youth to have quality resources is very much of concern. It is not free to attend college and no one should be telling you they will disconnect a call because they don’t care to find the information needed and you are in need of getting enrolled. Troy told me he would be disconnecting the call and told me to call student services. When I called enrollment just now the woman that help me Help me to access my path, well at least tried, she ask me for information pertaining to my application and she not only gave me student services number which prior with Troy I had to go search through my email she also offer to transfer me to student services. It would be good for Troy to take some culture diversity classes and understand that how he treats new and returning students can be the determining factor whether a person gives up or says forget school all together. His dismissive approach and no resources or redirection to someone that could help me is and was very discouraging. I would say our community deserves better and Troy whether a veteran at deterring people or a veteran at turning people away should be held accountable and taught how to resolve conflicts or circumstances that he isn’t familiar with. Troy had no answers nor was he interested in obtaining any. I don’t know if it was the end of a work day bc I work out of state and am on central time or if it was the attitude of having to explain and go a loyalty beyond the call of duty to offer me the same respect and dignity the other specialist offered me. But in our community that we are losing many to senseless gun violence and drug overdoses as well as poverty and lack of education I would hope that someone his position would be more fluid and concern of the lasting impact he has on those that are depending on him to help find the answers sought and make it is duty to help Louisvillians to return to school or be...
Read moreHere is why I say only 1 star, this is strictly based on my experience with 1 professor! Ok been going here almost two full semesters and the first semester was fine had good teachers that actually loved teaching and helping students, this semester I'm taking a developmental psychology class and this teacher is the worst I've ever experienced. Completely unprofessional, talked down to the students as if we were stupid, not just once but the entire first few weeks, until I wrote her saying I walked out of your class because you were being so disrespectful I couldn't take it anymore. I actually went to the ARC after crying because I was so unset. She also singled out a woman from our class all the time which shocked me, but she kept on going. The women eventually drop her class. I was going to file a compaint but she never directed her comments directly to me rather the class as a whole, so I couldn't. She also claims she is not a teacher, she's a professor, sorry but I'm in community college, I kinda need a teacher but she does not teach, she says she is there to answer questions basically! Plus, I missed an exam because she didn't post it on blackboard (because we are all adults and suppose to know this already) and now I'm failing the class. Recently she decided we don't have to have class and never let those that missed that class date (in which this was discussed) know what was going on, I missed that class due to JCPS spring break (those of us who have kids), so I show up each day to class not knowing what is going on and I'm wasting my gas, never bother to post it on blackboard either. I'm a ARC student and she didn't give a damn about accommodating me, when I tried to talk to her in the beginning of the semester about it she simply brushed me off saying well you have extended test time but that's it. I'm here now at her office and she isn't even here during her office hours and trying to figure out why I'm failing and what I can do to bring my grade up. I can honestly say this Professor ruined my college experience because I no longer want to come here. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels...
Read moreJust graduated with my RN degree from JCC so now i can give an honest review of the program. #1 Financial Aid is a joke, you’re going to battle for your loans, Pell grants or anything else every semester. The RN program is broke into 4 semesters and you will have good and bad teachers depending on your needs but I am honestly here to tell you 4th semester they do not care about helping and do little to help you with your nclex. I have seen students who were facing court for jury duty, cancer scares, flu and other issues and the program was basically deal with it or go away. I even had a teacher make religious and political agendas in class to our group, even going as far as making anti sexual orientation comments. When I reported it no one said a word to me or seemed to care. Your not allowed to give your opinion on any social media or they threaten to kick you out and you have to sign a contract acknowledging this. This program has serious issues with long standing teachers who have been there for some time and walk to the path of their own beat in a bad way. Look at any other option you before going this way. Its poorly managed and run and not welcoming...
