Academy Sports + Outdoors — Local services in Lower Paxton Township

Academy Sports is a brand new store that has been open less than a month.

It is located on US 22 in the heart of Colonial Park, inside the Paxton Towne Centre. An easy reference point would be Target, which is located two stores over.

This store is very similar to DICK's Sporting Goods, but IMO is a tad larger. They have everything you can imagine and are stocked to the gills with inventory possibly due to their recent opening. Prices are on par with the rest of the chain stores, but grand opening sales are still in effect.

One thing that Academy Sports has over DICK's is that they offer firearms sales. I have to admit that this is one of the best stocked firarms/handgun stores in the Harrisburg Area.

Went in with my wife and kids to check out the store. I stood in the firearms section at the counter with my 3 year old for almost 30 minutes without being acknowledged. There were two people working, and two other people in the section. I was not going to interrupt the other people, and I was never even greeted by any of the employees (except for the two people at the front door). It’s a bummer because I was so excited to check this place out, as it is right around the corner from our house. I was fully prepared to buy a new shotgun today, but I guess I’ll take my money to Bass Pro or Sportsman’s or an independent dealer. Great selection, terrible...

My wife and I visited this store to make an expensive purchase. All the associates were helpful but Erica, at the register, went above and beyond. We were having a problem signing into the app for the discount code. Erica was patient and friendly while I tried to log in then gave me a quick run down of the apps layout a d were to find the code. She found the code and got our purchase finished and on iur way with the new Griddle! Erica did an amazing job, her customer service skills should be the example that all employees follow.
