Fontana Sports Specialties — Local services in Madison

Stumbled on this store over the past weekend while visiting Madison. I was looking to find some new walking shorts for the summer and a pair of birkenstocks. Well must've been my lucky day, but end up leaving with two pairs of summer shorts and some Arizona birkenstocks. Staff is pretty great from walking in as we were greeted right away and was able to get directed to their men's section and some clearance racks. Decent stock of latest Patagonia apparel and ended up trying just about everything they had in stock for fit. Colombia seemed to be their clearance brand when I had visited and was able to pick up a pair of nice shorts for almost 50% off. Colorways for shoes are limited, but didn't shy me away picking up a pair of birks.

Anyways, if you're looking for outdoors sports store carrying everything from apparel to footwear, camping gear, and climbing gear. Fontana is the store for you. Service and staff were great, will definitely be back next time in Madison.

I went into thier store yesterday to buy a new jacket and some other stuff. I WAS wearing a mask even though I have asthma. I pulled my mask down slightly to take a drink and get a better breath and was immediately accosted by an employee telling me to pull my mask back up. It didn't matter that it was pulled down for only a few seconds and the section of the store I was in there was no one else nearby besides my wife. If the clerk had been more polite about it and offered a friendly greeting and then respectfully asked me to pull it up I would've been more than happy to. I hadn't been in this store in a long time but went in to check it out while I was visiting Madison the other day. They have a great mix of product and a cool vibe. I felt the need to write a review because their customer service was excellent. The three staff members each made verbal contact with me by either asking if I needed help, saying hello, or giving my dog a treat and making small talk. I work in the retail industry, and I was impressed, so I just wanted to give props to this store and the crew that was on duty...
