I visited Comedy on State in Madison, Wisconsin a couple months ago, and have to say, it was an unforgettable night filled with immense laughter. Nestled in the heart of Madison's vibrant nightlife, this comedy club is a true gem for comedy enthusiasts and those looking for a fun night out.
During my visit, the evening was headlined by the incredibly talented Kevin Bozeman, who was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment he stepped onto the stage, the room was alive with laughter. His comedic style, which blends witty quips, incisive observations, and hilariously relatable anecdotes, created an atmosphere that was both electric and intimate. Bozeman's ability to connect with the audience and turn everyday scenarios into comedic gold is a testament to his skill as a performer.
However, the entertainment wasn't limited to the headliner. The entire lineup, from the emcee to the warm-up act, contributed to an evening filled with non-stop humor. Each performer brought their unique style to the stage, ensuring a diverse and engaging comedy experience.
The club itself offers a cozy and welcoming environment. The seating is arranged to provide good views of the stage, ensuring that everyone gets to be a part of the action. The staff at Comedy on State are friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. The drinks menu is also worth mentioning, with a great selection of beverages to enjoy during the show.
Another aspect that stands out about Comedy on State is its commitment to bringing a variety of comedic talents to Madison. From up-and-coming comedians to established names in the industry, the club provides a platform for a wide range of voices in comedy, making every visit a unique experience.
Comedy on State is a must-visit for anyone in Madison looking for a night filled with laughter...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm a frequent visitor of the Wednesday night open mic, which is generally a very good time. There are a couple drink deals that always get me, the staff is usually friendly, and the performers are superb.
The reason I'm unable to give the Comedy Club more than 2 stars at this time, and the reason that I feel prompted to write this review, is due to something that happened last night (Wed 2/21) in Round 1 of the Madison's Funniest Comic competition. The opening (or warm-up) comic, David Fischer (a frequent Wednesday night performer), decided to make a joke about the Florida high school shooting that happened just over a week ago. This is not a joking matter--ESPECIALLY this soon after the event happened. The crowd was taken aback by this joke, which was demonstrated by "woahs" among the crowd after the first and subsequent jokes about the shooting were made. Yes, I did just say that more than one joke was made about the Florida school shooting. This was distasteful, and caused my experience last night to be negatively affected.
I fully understand that stand-up comedy is a place where comics come to joke around with and about current events--including "touchy" subjects. There are many things going on in the world today that are worthy of making jokes about. However, this school shooting--where 17 innocent people lost their lives--is not something that should be joked about. I hope that the manager of the Comedy Club, Joe, is able to take this review into consideration and have a word with Mr. Fischer about his distasteful and inappropriate jokes about this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorst experience!! Me and a group of friends went up to Madison for my birthday. I had wanted to go to the comedy club specifically so we pre-ordered tickets online. We went to dinner before hand and the restaurant was crazy busy. The showtimes start was at 8 o'clock and when the Uber drove up and dropped us off it was 805. Something we had no control over. We went in to check in and the lady told us that they had given away our tickets. We were all upset being that we drove specifically to Madison for the night, and received no phone call or notification that our tickets were being given away. I asked to speak to the manager who was rude and would not refund our tickets either. It was a terrible experience, especially after writing my review on their page on Facebook. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions and reviews. Right? That's why they have a review section. It is now five months later and I am STILL getting harassed by people under my review making me out to be the bad guy by the clubs friends, staff, and even comedians. It's sad actually. Are these the type of people you want to give your money to and support? If I would of known this I would of spent the $80 on tickets to chicago's comedy club where we love and enjoy the...
