Roanoke Marshes Trading Co — Local services in Manteo

We ran into the biggest crab on Roanoke Island and it was nowhere near the sand. She was at Salt Coast Outfitters (stated on receipt; sign read Roanoke Marshes Trading) in Manteo, N.C. Don't get me wrong. They have a great selection, however the staff was less than kind. I literally could have copy/pasted previous reviews regarding this store. I specifically observed how the tshirts were folded so I could fold them like I found them in the event I didn't like the one I picked up. The lady with the short gray hair constantly pitched a fit (whispering) and sighed heavily after we left each table/display because she felt the need to refold every shirt (perfectionist I guess). She eventually told the other employee to quit folding until we left. I am not a proponent of the cancel culture that seems to be the norm, however, this lady needs to be performance managed or reprimanded for her poor customer service/attitude. If she doesn't improve, let her go! It's her JOB to refold shirts! If she doesn't like it, quit! I'm sure McDonald's could use the extra staffing. The store was beautifully laid out with current, desirable inventory. Prices were good, especially with the sale on black Friday. However, I'm in agreement with most of the other comments, staff was rude. I first noticed the sign that said 'please watch your little one's. (I didnt notice the no strollers sign) So, I walked in, with my stroller and parked it in the corner. I would have left it outside except my camera and my wife's purse were hanging on it. I parked it so I could carry my son so he would'nt touch things. I was immediately given a mean stare by a busy worker. No problem, I can handle one, but when I asked to switch shirts I was buying after one was rung up, the same scowling women chimed in with a course reponse. Now, im not just a customer, im also a small business owner of a Pawn shop no less! I deal with the some of the saltiest people daily! Not vacationing tourists with money to spend. Extremely poor experience. Was told to take my stroller outside because “it will be busy in here around noon”… it was 10:50am and we were the only people in the store. I didn’t think I was going to be in the store for an hour with three kids under 7, but I guess the average customer must. The woman that approached me was very condescending, clearly more concerned about rules that are questionable in nature in the first place rather than making money. Congratulations, you lost a sale when my wife put down a pile of clothes well over $200 in value… additionally, there is insufficient space for anyone in a wheelchair to be able to shop.
