Maui School of Therapeutic Massage — Local services in Maui

I’ve been here multiple times and have had generally good experiences when it was under different management up in makawao. My last visit the massage therapist injured my shoulder. I notified the supervisor/teacher,Dr. Karen Frangos, immediately after coming out from my massage. She said that she couldn’t do anything to help me, and that the owner/manager would contact me the next day. Chris Obrachta, the owner and manager contacted me two days later and I asked that something be done and he told me he would not do anything to help until I gave it time to resolve and that he would conduct an investigation. I asked that proper paperwork be done and that I wanted to have my shoulder looked at and would need insurance information. It took weeks for there to be any progress made, so I wrote I negative review, and then he finally said if I removed the review he would help. I asked another supervisor at the clinic, who happened to be his wife Bianca the other owner, for the information after finally being given an incident report to fill out and was denied again. I removed the review to see if they would actually help, and they have chosen to quit responding. Claiming when I went in and asked for insurance information to file a claim, that I was hostile. I never made a scene, raised my voice, or used any profane language. I simply asked for help. They are negligent owners and the situation should never have gone this far. It should have stopped right when I came out from my massage and said that I was hurt during the massage. I have had to visit the ER to find out the therapist tore a muscle in my shoulder and am now in physical therapy for recovery, all out of pocket, because of the lack of care of this practice. This business, the owners, the teachers, should all be ashamed...

Such a marvelous school and massage establishment!! I highly recommend both attending massage school here and going in to receive a student massage! I am a recent graduate who within a few months of receiving my license has already begun a thriving private practice. Not to toot my own horn, but I have received only 5 star reviews and many clients have claimed it is the best massage they have ever received! I greatly owe my success to this school, owners Bianca and Chris, and the thorough teachers who made learning and practicing techniques, anatomy, kinesiology, etiquette and business principles fun, therapeutic and rewarding. Also, if you are going in for a student massage, prepare to be impressed. My experience was that students are passionate about offering efficient techniques that they have been practicing in order to address your specific needs and interests— giving them an edge to your typical massage parlor or even spa, which may have a fixed routine not specifically aimed at your...

The Maui School of Therapeutic Massage came highly recommended by a friend who lives on Maui part of the year. I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the other reviews but am so glad that we went! It was the best massage either my husband or myself have ever had!

You can book with either the students or the professionals on staff, we ended up booking with the professionals since the student clinic openings didn't fit with our schedule. I've heard good things from my friend about the students and the prices are awesome - I think it's important to keep in mind that they're learning and you're getting a massage from them to help them learn!
