Uptown — Local services in McKinney

I was in this shop today with a couple of girlfriends. We strolled around and picked out items we wanted to purchase on our way out. After we looking around, we sat on one of the sofas and chatted. (I’m am pregnant and needed to get off my feet for a second.) The owner came up and very sarcastically asked us “what we were doing...” She was incredibly passive aggressive and derogatory. I understand she needed to sell furniture but there are a million kinder ways to communicate this. I can honestly say I’ve never been spoken to in this manner as a customer.

I actively shop at the nearby local stores and bring my friends and family as well (we’re all avid shoppers). Unfortunately one really bad experience can leave a bad taste in your mouth for quite a while. Especially when it’s coming from the owner of an establishment. Needless to say, I won’t be back and will be pointing my friends and family to also shop elsewhere.

This place has some great items but the staff just couldn't be bothered. When we went to check out one of the staff was in the middle of something but rather than stop what she was doing or asking us to wait a moment she simply ignored us. Eventually, she got around to acknowledging us but treated us like we were a nuisance. As if that rudeness wasn't aggravating enough, no one bothered to tell us that the Capri pants I purchased for $80 could not be returned if they are defective. I noticed stitching pops when I tried to wear them and tried to return them only to find that all sales are final at this store. Not the friendly employees you would expect to meet in downtown McKinney. I asked a simple question and received a unwarranted snooty rude answer. From the way she was speaking with the other employee, I got the impression she was the owner or manager of the store. I was with an autistic family member so, I kept an upbeat attitude during the exchange. Not sure what rudeness was coming out of her mouth as we walked out of the store but, I really hope it was not directed to the amazing autistic human-being with me. Awful way to conduct business. Friendliness and kindness is everything to our family. I don't have the displeasure of giving a business a one star...
