Big Dave Tours — Local services in Miami Beach

I don't recommend it. I wouldn't go back. I bought a groupon online from miami to key west for snorkeling tour. No agenda was provided until we were on the bus for 2 hours. Leave at 7AM to get to key west by 12PM. We are not morning people and were exhausted. Didn't know they would be stopping for breakfast on the way but we had already grabbed a breakfast sandwich before. They stop at some cuban buffalo food truck in key largo where options were limited. Would have made more sense to me to allow people to eat in Key west and save that time on the way there. We did not want to travel home to miami the same day and I'm not sure why people would want to spend 10 hours on a bus to spend 5 hours in key west, but we opted to stay one night. While they were nice to allow next day to come home, they don't accommodate well for this option or leave enough time for us to do anything before the snorkel tour. We explained to the tour guide lady we were planning to eat in key west but we didn't know the tour was scheduled at 12:45PM leaving us little time to eat. We were unable to check in our hotel. It was very rushed and disorganized. We rushed to get food with our bags and were anxious to make it to the boat on time which was also miscommunicated on timing. Staff on the boat were also bad at directions and rude. Captain didn't explain very well where we should snorkel and was yelling at his staff and snorkelers. The open bar is cheap alcohol options on the way back from the tour. The positives were we didn't have to drive and the snorkeling part was actually nice. If I had known the agenda, I'd probably check if they could have arranged the tour for the next day along with the ride home. Other than that I wouldn't do the tour again. Booked the Sun, Snorkel and Sip tour for my last day in Miami. Got up at 5a.m to leave Miami Beach on the bus, rode for about 4 hours to arrive at Key West around 12:15p.m. Checked in at Sunset Water Sports right away, and was told to grab a sandwich and meet at the dock before 1p.m by our tour guide. 8 of us did so, arriving at the boat 2 minutes before 1pm to watch the boat drive off and leave us on the dock with who I assume is the first mate staring right at us as they drove away. Neither the Captain or other staff on the boat would answer the phone, as well as management. Was offered a simple refund as if that makes up for wasting a whole day coming down here. 4 hour trip down to Key West for nothing. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time with this trip. Book elsewhere! -Update: Never did receive a refund for this booked trip, although I was assured by Sunset Water sports and Big Dave’s Tours that I would receive one. That same day upon returning to our tour bus for the drive back to Miami, we spoke with a couple that made it on the boat and had indeed informed the Captain and other employee personnel on the boat that they were leaving without a number of us accounted for. I didn't receive itinerary until night before after I asked for it. They have several stops in the morning picking people up. It was a long bus ride in the morning in which we stopped at Key Largo to eat. we had already ate before getting on the bus. I think we should had just drove straight through for the ones that do eat before hand to get to key west sooner and be able to have time to enjoy a meal before the snorkel trip. Thamara was a great guide. Super sweet, knowledgeable and skilled with her many languages. Also making sure we were safe and understood the assignment. The bus ride was smooth. When we got on the boat they told us the reef had been bleached from the sun. Then they took us too a place that didn't have any color at all. I was hoping for at least some color. That's really the only reason why I booked it. The drinks are super well drinks meaning like $5 for bottle liqour. The staff were awesome though and made sure safety was their priority! When we got back we really only had time to change and walk down the street. There is not shower that I could find so your just stuck with salt water on you until you get back to miami.
