As SoBe locals, we like to try new restaurants in the neighborhood. I’m writing this for other locals who might be tempted. This place is another tourist trap. It’s a ripoff and the service was abysmal. The food….like, seriously??? In Miami where great Colombian restaurants are a dime a dozen. The only way I would recommend this place is if you’re sitting on the ground floor where the party is and you’re part of a bachelorette or birthday party.
FIRST IMPRESSION: We went on a date tonight and decided to give this place a try. It was just 2 of us so we didn’t make a reservation. When we walked in, the hostess looked annoyed when we said we didn’t have a reservation, and told us to go find the elevator and take it up to the 4th floor. I wanted to be very clear, the lobby was empty. She acted like we were a nuisance simply for showing up. The elevator was across the restaurant, and instead of walking us there, she gave rushed directions and disappeared. From her reaction, I expected a full house up there, but the place was empty save for one other table. No one walked us to a table (not a problem), and I had to ask the bartender where we should sit.
SERVICE: the server gave us one food menu (for two people). He took our order and we never saw him again. Not for water refills, not to check on us, not even to offer dessert. We waited with empty plates and drink glasses (long empty) stacked in front of us for 30 minutes before we had to flag him down for the check. Oh, and there’s a 20% tip included. The guy talked to us for 2 minutes and never came back.
FOOD: $16 for an arepa that’s half the size of the one you get on Calle ocho for 6 bucks is insanity. And (I’m being honest here), it was NOT good. I wanted it to be good, I tried to like it, but it tasted weird and bitter. $50 for salmon and rice (literally a little salmon and a side of rice). Like, bro. You can’t charge Smith and Wollensky prices when the food is not good and the service is terrible. This is how restaurants die on South Beach. The patacon is literally one oversized mariquita (a cracker) for $14. The second it came, I knew we were getting ripped off. My mom makes those out of an 89 cent plantain. I get it, rents are high here, but don’t rip people off. That’s gross and ensures locals won’t go there...

Save your money and go elsewhere. From the moment I walked in the experience was not good. First off there was supposed to be 3 of us. (2 showed) and we were sat on the 3rd floor on a Wed late when the place wasn't busy OR FULL, missed the whole show but I digress.....We were handed 2 drink menus ONE food menu for 3 of us that we had to share to figure out and the pages were disgustingly sticky (fully stuck together)on the soup/ salad page, couldn't even touch it. The food was less than mid, TINY appetizers that came COLD with no side sauce(we had to beg for it and even then had to wait extra) so not only did we get not hot food but then by the time I was able to get the sauce IT REALLY was cold. Ordered the cowboy steak, fatty and trash. THE KICKER AT THE END? we were handed a review card I literally ripped up, threw in my wine bucket and the floor manager DEMANDED the review paper back EVEN AFTER I told the server that they weren't getting a good review cuz we had to BEG for sauces among other things BUT WHY WOULD THEY CARE? THEY'RE GETTING THEIR 20 PERCENT whether they give good service or not , which in Miami, is generally 18 , sure you can have your 20 but THEN WORK FOR IT! NOT ONCE were we asked if everything was OK , THEN THE FLOOR MANAGER PICKED OUT THE WET REVIEW CARD (out of the wine bucket after I said I threw it out) AND PIECED IT BACK TOGETHER AT THE WAITRESS STAND, HOW TACKY ARE YOU OF A PLACE? No place EVER has FORCED me to write a review LET ALONE NEED THE BLANK PIECE OF PAPER?!! I spoke to the first floor manager Daniel on my way out but an apology certainly wasn't enough for the trashiness of the food or staff. Will NEVER EVER EVER be back. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. I had WAY BETTER QUALITY FOOD EVERYWHERE ELSE ALL WEEK. this place was the lowest of the low for a high price point undeservedly so. DO BETTER FOR A NEW PLACE OR YOU'RE NOT GONNA BE AROUND HERE VERY LONG, if i could give negative 5...
