I came to Mr. Blendz hoping to treat myself to my first professional color job, but left with damaged hair, uneven color, and a deep sense of disappointment.
I booked a cut and vivid color with the owner, Marcel, but when I arrived, the staff seemed visibly uncomfortable that I was female-presenting. Without explanation, I was passed off to Angelo, who barely spoke to me the entire 5-hour appointment. I clearly stated I wanted to grow my mullet into a mohawk and only buzz the sides, but they ignored my request and gave me a tapered mullet - the exact cut I said I didnāt want.
During the bleaching process, Angelo ran out of product and asked a coworker to mix more using ācuarenta volĆŗmenesā - 40 volume developer - which is far too strong for my fine hair. As a licensed esthetician with 15 years of self-coloring experience, I know the damage this can cause. After bleaching, my hair was clearly fried - he couldnāt even get a brush through it without breakage. When I later voiced concern, Marcel insisted they had only used 20vol and claimed the damage was my own fault due to previously processed hair. That was the moment I realized I was being gaslit and disrespected - either Angelo lied to Marcel, or they both assumed I didnāt understand Spanish or hair chemistry. Either way, it was insulting.
The color application was rushed and sloppy - bleach residue was still flaking from my scalp as Angelo started coloring. Despite showing clear reference images, the shades were wrong, the tone was too warm, and the coverage was inconsistent. I left with visible patches of blonde, dark roots that didnāt lift, and vivid color missed in multiple areas. Even after pointing out the uneven cut, the correction was rushed and careless.
Small, family-owned businesses like this should take pride in hiring staff who genuinely care about the quality of their work. Unfortunately, this haircut is nothing to be proud of - it's honestly embarrassing. Not just for me, as the person who has to walk around with it, but also for Angelo, who put his name on it, and for Marceloās business as a whole. This reflects poorly on everyone involved.
I paid $190 and tipped $60 - not because it was earned, but because I understand this industry and wanted to show grace. But this was not a professional experience. I was dismissed, ignored, and ultimately blamed for damage they caused. I will not be returning, and I donāt recommend Mr. Blendz to anyone who values honest, respectful, or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBe ready to wait for hours! Unfortunately the service doesnāt meet my expectations. Management and scheduling are awful. I made an appointment online (2 days before the meet) and it should have happened at 4:30, but 15 minutes before my planned haircut I received a text message that Mr Blendz barbershop postponed my haircut for 15 minutes ā¦ok ... I arrived punctually at a new arranged time however a barber was still busy. I was told that the service would be provided soon⦠I was sitting and waiting for more than 45 minutes and finally I was offered to change the barber. I agreed. Another 5 minutes passed for a chair and place preparation so finally the waiting time was more than 1 hour (and the service should have taken 45 min). All evening plans were crushed. If u want to have the service in time kindly avoid this place. As for haircut - it was not so easy to explain the length because the barber hardly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTerrible Experience at Mr. Blendz very $$$
I recently visited Mr. Blendz while in Miami, and it was one of the worst barber experiences I've ever had. From the moment I walked in, I didnāt feel welcomed. The staff seemed unfriendly, and I struggled with language barriers since no one spoke English.
Before I could book my appointment, they insisted on collecting all my personal informationāaddress, phone number, email, etc. It felt more like a job interview than a haircut.
I opted for a simple bald cut, which should have been straightforward. Instead, the barber used a machine that left my head with noticeable imperfections. I ended up having to fix it myself at home with a BIC razor.
At $41, I expected much better service and quality. I definitely do not recommend Mr. Blendz. Save your time and money and...
