I visited Beach Body Spa on my way to the airport from a sun filled 25th birthday in Miami Beach. I was greeted immediately upon arrival and asked to pay a $67 gratuity upfront; to which I asked if I could pay after the services, but was informed that I could not. I didn't make a big deal of it simply because of the amount of services included in the $99 Groupon (swedish massage, deep pore cleansing facial, sauna, anti aging red light bed, and a glass of champagne.)
I entered the massage parlor and was neither over nor underwhelmed by the rooms. I was asked to undress and lay under the sheets; I complied. The massage room itself was freezing, so when the lotion hit my skin, I swear I got goosebumps! In addition to the temperature, the music from the attached gym can be heard from the rooms, and the analog clock for the esthetician was obnoxiously loud to me for whatever reason.
I had prepared my mind to relax but not expect that mind-blowing massage as this was a swedish massage and NOT a deep tissue massage; there is a difference. After my massage was done, I re-entered the lobby to wait on my facial appointment. I sipped my Groupon included, glass of champagne as an attempt to warm up. The entire establishment was freezing!
The facial was nothing short of heavenly and was by far better than the massage. I expected steam and extraction as this was a deep cleansing facial but I got neither. Instead I received a nice scrub, mask, and hand and foot massages. The esthetician did not speak english but we understood each other unequivocally. Though great, I inspected my face after the facial and was met with visible parts of the mask still on my face. It irritated me some because I feel, If I can see it, clearly she could!
After the facial I entered the steam room. I was provided with a robe and two right foot flip flops; again, no biggie. The sauna was as good as a sauna could get. Afterwards, I took a shower with all ten of its shower heads. I wish I could've gone through the services in different order. Maybe visit the sauna first, followed by the shower, massage, and finally the facial.
I almost lost my daggone life trying to make it from the shower to the bench outside in my provided sandals (the kind you get when you leave the nail salon sporting a fresh pedicure.) The floor is littered with grit paper to sustain a proper grip, but they work to no avail.
I was escorted to the red light anti-aging station which was actually a tanning bed with a red light. As a chocolate woman, I had never before been in a tanning bed. All I could think of though was that scene in "Final Destination" where the two girls fried to death. Needless to say, I could only manage about 10 minutes in the bed.
I redressed and awaited my shuttle to the airport. Again as the establishment is freezing, I instead chose to wait outside. Overall, my time and money spent at Beach Beauty Spa was very well spent. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would spend another $166 there.
The services were good. The customer service was good. It was a great value for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhy this rating? the massage itself was 5 stars, the experience 1, so 3 is a fair rating in my opinion. The Spa services were ok and the staff was really nice. I gave them such a mid rating due to the confusion they created with my appointment, the misinformation, and the appearance of the facility and hotel. I got a couples massage package as a gift. On a Tuesday, I set up my appointment for the coming Saturday at 11am. They tell me I have to pay gratuities and taxes in advanced, I found this ridiculous but we'll play with their rules. They sent me the link I I paid $86 worth of taxes and gratuity. They send me a confirmation text and email where it explains that if I need to cancel, it has to be done with more than 24 hours of the appointment time. The Friday before the appointment, at 9:20PM I get a text and email saying my appointment was changed to 1PM, and they added a text message saying that cancellation was not possible because it was within 24 hours, this was of course done without my consent or prior warning. I tried calling but no one answered at that time. The morning of the appointment I was already thinking I needed to raise hell because I can't do that appointment at 1PM and they would have to give a refund. Again, no one is answering the phone. I texted back to the number from the messages I received and they at least answered and said they will fix the appointment to be back at 11am. Oh and they said the hotel offers valet parking for $5. So we showed up and the hotel it is located at, the Sherry Frontenac,. First, they do not offer valet parking and after explaining the situation to the hotel staff they gave me a parking pass to a lot that is 2 blocks away. The hotel is old and needs some TLC. It was decorated somewhat nicely, but walls had humidity damage and were patched up very poorly. The hotel is old and not very well kept in my opinion. The spa area is by the pool and again it looks like a rig it was set up by an amateur handyman. The girls at the spa were very nice and accommodating. Had trouble speaking English so we communicated in Spanish. The massage itself was good but I would not come back here from the experience I had just for setting up the...

I am very disappointed with this Gym, they are relocated to the basement of a Sherry hotel which is very nice, but that gym is terrible !! the gym is dirty, no space to do nothing, almost all the machines were broken and the attitude of the Manager Fernando was the worst. I went there and Fernando gave me a discount for the 12 month membership, the first day I went I was disappointed completely, it was terrible and I did not go any more, they sent me a text message asking If I am going back, obviously I answered no because it was not to my liking, and I did not ask for a refund so as not to be a bad person and they did not answer any more. Two months later they keep calling me to tell me that I have to pay those two months and that I never canceled Membership because I did not fill out a form, which they never notified me before. the next day I went to fill out the form and the manager Fernando treated me horrible, very badly educated, he forced me to pay for the two months that I never went, besides they never gave me a test day to know if I liked it or not that gym, the first day I went was enough to know that gym was terrible. He was very rude and he told me to do as I wanted to, he still wanted I pay, if not they will report me to the credit bureau, I told him why he treated me like that, that I was very dissatisfied and I could give a bad qualification to his gym (what I doing now) and he just danced and said "look how I tremble you scare me" I was surprised by so little ethics and unprofessionalism on his part, I wanted to videotape it but It was not worth arguing with a person like that. Plus he was furious because I told him I am at Normandy Gym, I pay $ 200 per month but it's worth it, it does not compare at all with how terrible of beachbody gym, even if it's cheap ($ 65 / monthly) does not work.
