Everything was fine until my application was denied. But, the denial isn’t the issue. When I applied for a unit, I plugged in my bank account info and was charged $650 with $500 of it refundable if denied. Okay. A week after submitting my application, I was denied and I began to wait for my refund to show back up in my bank account. About 3 weeks went by and I said nothing, and nothing showed up. On the 4th week, I started making phone calls to both my realtor and LIZ, my leasing agent at Highly House. My realtor indicated that she too had been having a hard time getting a call back from LIZ. It was only then that I was notified that my refund would not be deposited into my account in the same way I paid, rather A PAPER CHECK would be mailed to the address on my DL. This was never communicated to me in the beginning. I don’t reside at the address on my DL and getting mail there is impossible. I have since forwarded my mail with USPS. My realtor advised me to go back in person to the office and speak to LIZ’s manager YUNI. Another week went by and I had time after work and went to see them (on a bicycle) with the hopes to reach a resolution. I relayed my unhappiness at the situation, primarily the lack of communication and was re-assured by LIZ’s that she would look into it and then quickly urged out of the office. Since then, I have been contacting YUNI the manager daily to see she could find out what happened to my refund. And daily, I am ignored or told that they aren’t in the office and will check on it first thing when they can. Then following up with that, I get no reply for several days and given excuses about how there’s been a personal emergency and they aren’t going to work. Liz also used the same excuse to not help me. All I want is someone who represents this company to communicate with me and resolve a very simple problem which can be solved remotely by email and phone. But that hasn’t happened. I sincerely feel as though my application never went thru and there has been theft and fraud by the management team at Highly House. Read moreDON'T MOVE HERE. From armed robberies and shootings to pool parties out of carnival cruise lines, this place is not for professionals or safe. Homeless people sleeping in stairwells and going through garbage, dogs going everywhere with residents not picking it up. After the shootings, management has been ignoring my emails to break my lease. There is now police presence at the pool on the weekend. People smoking hookah at the pool, guests wearing ankle monitors, drunk people falling all over the place, and people drinking from liquor bottles etc. Weed smell is so strong I think people smoke in the elevators. People chain their electric scooters to the pool outdoor shower and I've seen women in the gym in bikinis and men with no shirt on working out and not cleaning after themselves. It took over 6 weeks for management to allow me access to the amenities I paid for - STEAM ROOM HAS NEVER WORKED AND NO ETA OF WHEN IT WILL WORK. Front door is usually left open. One front desk person yelled at me and walked away when I asked for help with Latch instead of passing along the message to management. Garbages outside on east building have been overflowing for weeks. Management is non existent even the leasing manager would fix my latch system yet acknowledge my email. Read moreUpdate still no word on my refund. I asked if realtor can pickup check and no response. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. I also feel like my denial was very racist motivated. I was told they needed to verify my income I sent in everything needed and I kept calling for days. Applying to this apartment complex was an absolute nightmare. It took them over a WEEK to inform me that my application was denied, claiming they couldn’t verify my information—despite the fact that I provided everything they asked for. I worked with Liz and Metao, and their communication was horrendous. Metao even LIED, saying he sent me multiple emails asking for additional information, which I NEVER received.
I spent $625 during this process, only to be told that my refund will take over 30 days to process and will come as a check. Why is this even acceptable? From the application process to constantly having to call and follow up on my status, this has been a complete waste of time and money.
