Great store, fantastic selection but the way they treat customers (I'm assuming its not just me) with suspicion is beyond strange and rude.
The first instance I had at this location was earlier this year. I brought my own reusable tote bag and was shopping around for small things: lip balm, gum, chips/candy, soda/energy drinks, etc.
When I went to the self-checkout my bag was pretty full and I set it down on the counter to empty it and a woman walked right up on me and tried to scan my items for me . . . While I was still standing in front of the register. I am very uncomfortable around people in general and she was basically standing in my pocket.
I asked "can I help you" and she spoke little English and continued to try and go through my bag and scan my items. I loudly said "I can do it myself thank you" at this point she backed off from my bag/items but she was still standing on top of me. I asked again if she needed help and someone else (I'm guessing a manager) came and led her a few steps back and let me know it was policy that customers are monitored because they basically get robbed a lot.
I had just gotten off work in the mall and we get hit like that a lot, so I get it, but I also work hard for my money so I dont need someone standing on top of me making sure I'm not stealing. I told her I understood but it's rude and off-putting. I was able to do my own transaction (with the associate standing close by) and I left. Making a mental note to never come back.
Whiiiiiich I completely ignored because I went back today. In my defense I thought things might be better this time 😅
I wanted to get some Vaseline/Aquaphor and this location is closest to home so I came back, like a fool. I looked all over for the items (I knew they had it because I'd seen them at another location) and I finally found them in the checkout line.
While I was looking at the items there was an associate on the otherside of the stand where the self-checkout is. A customer walked up to her with a question and I realized there were no prices on either item. While she was with the customer I decided to go to the SELF-CHECKOUT and scan the items real quick just to see how much they cost so I could decide which one I wanted.
I walked around the stand to the self-checkout, I set the items down to grab the scanner (I had my phone in my other hand) but before I could the associate was right there. She had literally stopped helping her customer and was grabbing the items and scanning them.
I said to her something along the lines of 'I'm okay I can scan them myself' to which she snapped that she had to do it then she pointed out the sign above the screen that said "please wait for associate". Once she scanned the two items I took a look at the price, grabbed them and walked off to put them back on the stand, saying outloud (I was on the phone) that the interaction was weird and how she completely stopped helping her customer just to do that.
I ended up leaving empty handed. I'm not sure whats going on at this location. I'm not someone who would have trouble with a self-checkout system and I'm not stealing so to be treated like I am is extremely rude and flat out annoying. I'm not sure why this location doesn't invest in LP and get better camera systems.
Honestly, JUST REMOVE THE SELF CHECK OUT this might be the best solution because the approach...

Just went today, - 9/7/23 - and it's officially open! Very decent sized store with a variety of products. They actually had a lot of merch that I haven't seen at any of the other Five Below locations I've been to in the past. For the most part, the store is very clean and organized. I only give this store 4 stars though because a few shelves were a little empty and some of the shirts I was looking at they ran out of stock in my size. Also not all of the self check registers were open. Only 1 to 2 were open, and the register by the door, where an employee will help you scan your merch. The staff are very friendly. But overall I'm glad that there's a Five Below in Milpitas now and will more than likely be coming back to...
Read moreThe only way to go to Five Below from inside the Great Mall is going through Dick's Sporting Goods, out to the parking lot and turn left. That is the route I always go to. Although I didn't find the original Lababies, I've found the Halloween version of the Lababies! These might not be the original Labubu but I personally think these are cuter and less likely to be stolen. As far as Customer services wise, they were okay. It used to be Customer scan their stuff and a worker supervise or help out, not it requires the worker to do it, which I don't mind. I only brought 2 Lababies so the employee let me do it myself as she was helping another customer. Overall, I would come back cause of the new...
