Gingko Furniture — Local services in Mountain View

Despite making all the usual stops when we started shopping for furniture in our new home, we were still struggling to find a dining room table that we loved in our price range. Fortunately we popped into Gingko's downtown showroom on a whim. Cliff & Jerry were great with answering questions and when we said "it's too bad we can't pair that top with those legs they jumped in with "of course we can". We walked out with a bench for the foot of our bed and a custom walnut table with bespoke dimensions and base on-order far more affordably than I'd thought possible.

That experience was fresh in our minds when Crate & Barrel delivered a 4th defective dresser (and a final straw in our patience with them) from their beautiful but deeply flawed Linea collection. We negotiated with Crate & Barrel to take back the entire bedroom set given the saga we'd been through, and placed an order for a new set with Gingko. Gingko had our bed and nightstands installed within the week, with a few more months to deliver another custom piece--a wider version of a standard dresser to better fit our space.

We've now received everything and absolutely love them. The ability to work with the Gingko team to make tweaks to dimensions and design that fit our style and space has been incredible--all at same or better prices to what we found at Crate & Barrel, etc.

While the range of designs is of smaller than what the big guys offer, the Gingko team punches well above their weight and their ability to tweak and customize pieces at reasonable price points makes them an easy recommendation for us to make to anyone shopping for quality...

Originally, my daughter had a class in Mountain View, and during the one-hour waiting time, I searched for furniture stores and found this store with good Google reviews. As soon as I walked in, being Japanese myself, I thought the furniture had an elegant and refined feel, with designs resembling Japanese-style dressers and made of walnut. However, since it wasn’t on sale, I also looked at various other stores including antique furniture stores in Oakland and Berkeley. Ultimately, I decided on the Monterey Design nightstand and chest because the nightstand, with a width of 19 inches, was perfect for our small bedroom. Additionally, it was made of solid walnut, one of the top three premium woods, without using MDF or particle board, and it was finished with dovetail joints (No soft closing). The quality and design were excellent, and it was on a 20% off sale. Jerry’s service was excellent from the beginning; he was very kind even though I had a small child with me, taking and sending photos for me, and providing meticulous service. Unfortunately, there was a small chip/dent in the wood inside the nightstand, possibly due to an issue during delivery, but since it was inside the nightstand, it didn’t bother me much. Ginkgo Furniture offers high quality and beautiful mid-century modern furniture. The owners, Cliff and Jerry, are wonderful. They consistently provide us with helpful and insightful service.

We purchased from Gingko on two occasions: first a ceramic marble tulip table, and second a transforming sofa bed. Both times, Cliff and Jerry's knowledge of the products and advice on what factors to consider were very helpful for us to buy the pieces with confidence. After Cliff's explanation of sofa beds and how the mechanisms work, I got a deeper appreciation of furniture design and felt more confidence in the design and longevity of the product I was buying.

Cliff and Jerry are also really flexible! They lent us sample pieces to take home to match our home environment colors, and even to offered to lend us some chairs we were interested in for a few hours to try at home! Since we live very close to their store, they allowed us to skip the delivery and just come to their store to pick up the pieces ourselves to save costs.

All in all, we find Cliff and Jerry very knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible, and they care deeply about product quality. We'd definitely...
