I was truly so excited for my appointment at this salon after reading rave reviews about Alex’s work. Alex was, no doubt, wonderful. He absolutely achieved my desired color and the tone I had asked for. He was incredibly kind and personable; I have nothing but great things to say about his work and his service. However, the only reason I had decided to book at this salon was to see Alex fully. But when I called to schedule an appointment, the receptionist didn’t communicate to me that he would not be cutting my hair in addition to the balayage service. Up until our appointment time, I was under the impression he would be both coloring and cutting my hair that day.

After I arrived, he then explained that another stylist would be cutting my hair instead. My appointment time ran over 45 minutes, causing me to run late to another commitment, due to being bounced back and forth between the stylist cutting my hair (who would pause in the middle of the haircut to begin working with another client), and the salon’s assistant. Unfortunately, the stylist cut an additional two inches off of my requested length and the cut’s overall result was nothing like what I had asked for in detail (in addition to being substantially shorter). I also noticed that a great amount of time and detail was spent on other clients and their blowouts/styles upon leaving, but the stylist who cut my hair asked the assistant to finish styling so she could tend to another client. No finishing products were used, and the blowout wasn't fully completed, as the assistant didn’t know how to complete the service/style. I’ve already booked a corrective cut with a different stylist at a different salon and sadly don’t plan...

Even after my friend referred me to this salon I still went and read their reviews on Yelp and Facebook first! To my surprise I discover this was one of the best hair salons in New York and was excited to make an appointment. I've been searching for a great hair salon in New York and was thrilled when the frontdesk was able to fit me in the day and time I preferred for balayage highlights with Alex.

As soon as I walked in, I was seated and asked if I wanted water, coffee, or tea while waiting since I was 15 minutes early. I find that very nice of them to offer.

I didn't have to wait long until Alex finished the highlights on his previous client. As soon as his client left, he introduced himself to me. He was very friendly and it made me feel more comfortable (I was pretty nervous when I walked in). I showed him a picture of how I wanted the hair color to be and he gave me his opinion about it. Since the hair in the picture was curly and I naturally have straight hair, he gave me some ideas on how to make my hair look more wavy like the style I wanted in the picture. I really liked that he took his time to teach me.

Overall, I had a great experience in Aerea salon. I was very pleased with the service. The final result of my hair came out almost like the picture I showed him!! He was very knowledgeable on the techniques and how to apply the dye to create a light/dark sort of dimension in my hair. I’ve always wanted an purple ombre with balayage highlights and even attempted to do it myself, however we all know how that works out. I decided to go to a hair salon in New York City this time and get it properly done. The salon was in the Flatiron District / Chelsea and was close to almost every subway line so it was very convenient. When I arrived, I saw how cute the salon looked. When I walked in, I was greeted by the receptionist. The atmosphere in the salon was very dainty and professional. I had previously lightened my hair to a somewhat blonde level going for the ombre but it needed much more blonde highlights first in order to achieve the hair color I wanted. Alex did balayage highlights on my hair by painting certain strands and blending it in perfectly with the bottom layers of my hair. When the color was washed off my hair, I immediately saw the results. My hair was purple with hints of pink which is what I wanted. I loved the gradual color change which was definitely a change from my natural brown hair color. My hair’s ombre looks amazing and it is by far the best hair color I've had so far. I am very happy with how my hair color came out and can’t wait until the weather gets warmer to show it off! All in all, this hair salon has great service and is very professional. I will choose it over and over again over any other hair salons in NYC the next time I need my color redone, a haircut or even hair extensions and would definitely recommend it to all...
