UPDATE 2022: I stopped by the store today to see if they had a couple of items. On google mals the store hours are 9 am, and I arrived around 9:11am the doors were locked, which was weird, but the cleaning professional let me in. After that, I walked around and found nothing I liked. As I was getting ready to leave, this lady with a short, almost bob haircut comes up to me and ask if I'm here for a class I say no. Then she tells me the store is closed and I tell her no it says you open at 9am on Google maps. She insist they open at 11am. When clearly it says 9am on google maps. She says I have to leave. I tell her I always already leaving. Then she begins to escort me out? As if I'm going to steal something. I completely understand the store not being open but it's the stores responsibility to post accurate hours of operation and the manner in which she handled the interaction was unprofessional and dehumanizing. I have never been escorted out of a establishment in my life. It was embarrassing to say the least. I shouldāve learned the first visit.
2021 Review:I stopped by the store today to see if they had a particular skirt that has been sold out online in stock. I walked through the store by myself and passed by at least 3 different employees and nobody seemed to notice me. I understand it was a Friday but the store wasnāt busy at all.
Then after walking around trying to find someone that would pay me any mind as two of the employees downstairs were deep in conversation and didnāt acknowledge I finally had to interrupt there conversation to inquire about what I was looking for. Unfortunately the skirt didnāt work for me but overall I was really disappointed with the service especially considering I saw numerous other people walk in and be acknowledged. I converted from lulu to alo with the hopes that I could find a athletic brand that was stylish and aligned with my personal views but it looks like alo might be that either. Iāve always known that by me being black and curvy and not the ātypicalā alo customer but feeling that way in store was uncomfortable and a bit upsetting. I mean i was even wearing alo! Hopefully I can find another brand.
Thank you to that one associate for being kind to me but I still shouldāve been assisted way earlier without having to interrupt that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve really enjoyed shopping at this location in the past and am a big fan of Alo products. My last experience with customer service involved trying to return a brand new jacket that was too big for me. The bearded man with glasses who was handling my return accused me of wearing the jacket, saying it was in āunsellableā condition even though it had the original tags attached and it was only delivered a few days prior. He pointed to a speck of dust that I brushed off with my finger š and then said āIām not saying you did this but since no human has touched this item before it got to you, itās not possible that it was damaged in store.ā His behavior made me feel like I had done something wrong, even though I know I hadnāt.
Pretty disappointing, especially since Iāve returned a few things before without issue, and have never been treated with condescension like I was this last time. I realize there are outliers but given how many negative reviews this location has about its associates, I really hope they do something to hold patronizing and combative sales associates accountable.
For what itās worth, I returned the item at a different location 60 minutes later, disproving his point that the item was āunsellableā. After telling them what had happened, they even apologized and said that I shouldnāt have experienced this kind of unprofessionalism in the store. Even though this used to be my primary Alo location, this experience turned me off so much that Iād rather travel further to a different Alo where Iām not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI bought an item from this store on Feb 21 and wanted to buy an additional item that was not available in my size. The store ordered the item for me through their online website. 10 days later, I received an email that the order was cancelled! no explanation was provided. I checked their online website and sure enough the item ordered was available!! I called the store on March 2, to follow up with a complaint, and was connected with someone who claims he was, victor, the store manager. Besides being uninterested in providing assistance, the "manager" didn't even ask for the order no or any other details. He suggested I needed to follow up with their online service instead of taking ownership of the problem. I could barely hear him due to the loud music but he was both rude and abrupt.
This is a relatively new brand that defines itself with this headline from their website "We are Alo, Spreading mindful movement, inspiring wellness and creating community. These goals inspire everything we do at Alo"
To the Alo team in Williamsburg, Brooklyn: you are Alo and you are not mindful, or inspiring and you have failed this member of the community. You have mishandled my first shopping experience and...
