If you do not have restaurant/bartending experience or are an actor/artist in need of a side hustle and want to move into the bartending world-- this is a FANTASTIC training program for you. It's a pay to play but the price is justifiable per hour and the certification on your resume and the hours of training ensures employers you know what you're doing, you're trustworthy, and has gotten me 3 bartending jobs just about 2 weeks post-school already whereas none would even interview me before. Now the school won't get you a job alone, you have to be ambitious, personable, and have a hard work ethic to do the job hunting BUT the ABS job board opportunities help get you through the door with bartending jobs and specifically a lot of catering companies LOVE ABS grads. Getting hired and keeping the job will be up to you. The faculty are the BEST! They feel like family. Brian and Lou, the instructors, are incredibly intelligent and have the kindest and funniest Dad energy. They're supportive and they push you to be your best self -- efficient, fast, knowledgeable, social, etc. I recommend taking class from them both because they have different life experiences and nuggets of information to give you and I loved them both. Joey at the front desk is super sweet and will take care of all your financial and educational questions. Everyone who works here knows what they're talking about because of their decades of experience and professionalism. The only con I ever had was that the school is kind of dirty (but if you're looking to work a nightclub this is perfect for you haha) and the floor is torn up. ABS deserves a cleaner and better space for their students to work considering the money, but the education is the same as if you were a prospective chef looking to receive an education and make it into the cooking industry. I really loved going to school here and I met some AMAZING friends here and now we're all excited to visit each other at our bar jobs. HIGHLY recommend and if you ever feel the need to come back, bring your bars personal menu to practice with, or receive extra information regarding attire/garnishes/special drinks then the instructors and the school is available for you to come in anytime to do so. I love ABS, I really couldn't recommend it more and SPECIFICALLY for...
Read moreWell, I’d have to start off with the initial Communication with ABS’s reps Vanessa and Dave went amazing, very informative very consistent and persistent. They were very available and willing to reschedule when needed. I was finally able to schedule an “interview” little did I know this would start pleasant and end up just disgusted and unfortunately unprofessional. At first Jean was pleasant very informative very knowledgeable about the bartending industry. A lot of personal experience. Mind you this was a 2 - 4 people interview, then 30 minutes in halfway through the “interview” 2 other interviewer come in honestly interrupting what Jean was trying to convey. I guess this made her a bit mad? Not mine and or the other gentleman's fault we arrived 40-30 minutes before our expected time. Well closer to the 45-1hr mark Jean seems annoyed and very dismissive of all of us, when she gets to the “Ok $800+ is the cost what are you going to pay with?” everyone a bit confused? We thought she would speak with us individually to discuss cost and payment plans like we were told via the chat. This was not the case she expected all of us to pass our credit cards to her or cash and pay to hold the placement date. Not everyone was available for Sep 26 granted I'm sure the more enrolled the better. I wanted to enroll for mid-October but she wanted me to pay in full right now. Don't get me wrong id still give this school a try it seems like a great place to start a bartending career path but Jean disregarded us all after she thought no one was going to pay right this moment right away like” pay up”. She wouldn't even say “id like to see you all back soon “ nothing! She said very distastefully “This is bullshit” wow! The professionalism of this lady is off the charts!! ABS desperately needs to retrain Jean I think everyone would have placed a downpayment or a hold if she wasn't so dismissive or...
Read moreThe most unprofessional place i have tried to study under. I started the course in March 2023 after 1 Saturday class, something personal came up and i had to cancel the classes. The first letter i sent was in April fair enough it was not a certified letter but i called multiple times trying to find out if they received the letter and was told that the letter could still work after the 45 days passed I realized nobody was making contact with me about my refund every time i tried to get in contact with jean i was told she was always busy and they will have her call me back. It was not until i called them and told them that this was very unprofessional behavior that Jean finally returned my call. After sending a second letter this time certified i was able to track when they received my letter (which was on the 20th June) and yet even after the 45 days passed and multiple phone calls i still could not get my refund back. On October 11th June spoke to me again she assured me that she passed the message on to Joe who told her he would call me or if he did not, he would have the refund ready for the Friday which was the 13th. However, on the 25th of October I decided to show up to the school and was informed that Joe still had not issued the refund nor was he around. This is beyond ridiculous and very frustrating. So be very careful with your money and...
