I recently completed the Introduction to Floral Design weekend. During this two day intensive, Executive Director and Master Florist, Calvert Crary, shared his knowledge and expertise with our class of 10. Floral conditioning techniques were taught in a step-by-step, informative and hands on manner as we each designed a variety of floral arrangements. Calvert took the time to give each student individual assistance and constructive feedback through each of the four sessions. Students were supplied with top notch floral design tools to work with and take back to their home studios. Premium flowers, florals, and vessels were available for each of the four designs. The workspaces throughout the flower school were thoughtfully designed and conducive to creative exploration and learning. At the end of the last session, Calvert taught how to artfully wrap 2 different styles of bouquets for clients. This last step in designing emphasized customer care, polished professionalism and pride in presentation. Read moreLoved it! When I came to FlowerSchool NY I had absolutely no idea about flowers, the first time I had touched a flower was a month before. Now 6 weeks later, going home I fell like a pro, ready to take the floral world head first. Cal and his team were so helpful, giving us all the information we needed to be able to have a successful business going forward. I am so glad I was able to be a part of all the flower series this fall; so thank full for the wonderful internship I was assigned to where I just kept learning more and more each day with the techniques I was thought at the school.
