What is there to say about Andrew and his honey? He is doing such amazing work for our planet, our community and our bees. His local rooftop honey is the perfect remedy to seasonal allergies and he has rooftop beehives all over the city! 1 spoonful of local honey at breakfast is more effective than any allergy medication I have tried - and tastier too! It is so nice to now have an Andrew's Honey shop on the Upper West Side. The woman at the cash register today was very professional and warm and answered customers questions while I took photos. There was no pressure to purchase but of course I was there to stock up for my parents and friends suffering from seasonal allergies right now. I love seeing all the other goodies too- flavored honey sticks, nuts in honey etc., I even have Andrew's book- it is so wonderful to read about urban beekeeping and to follow along his adventures on social media.
Fun fact: before I tried Andrew's honey at Union Square Farmer's Market 6-7 years ago I really thought I did not like honey at all- turns out I just don't like ultraprocessed honey.
Andrew's honey is delicious and each neighborhood and batch will have a slightly different flavor. If you're lucky enough to run into Andrew, he explains the reason for the variation in flavor and color across seasons and locations!
Note: Andrew's Honey no longer offers samples (since Covid) and kindly note, there are no returns once you leave the store (pretty reasonable policy in my opinion)
Note: There is a slight cash discount on most...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas hoping to find out more about Andrew's business and write an article about his rooftop apiaries. Received an incredibly rude and arrogant response from Andrew. If you're looking for a business with kind and reasonable management, I suggest you find a different place to buy your honey. EDIT: Thank you for responding, Andrew. Here is the email you sent me: "I donāt think that thereās anything I could possibly tell you that you couldnāt find with a little bit of online research. Iāve been interviewed more times than I can count. Iām afraid I donāt have time to take everyone who requests to visit rooftop apiaries. Good luck with your project.
If you wish to join a paid tour, you can certainly do that. Let me know if youāre interested.
Andrew CotƩ." Just to be clear, while you did send me that email you attached in your response a week after, this is the first email you sent and it was, in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly shouldnāt be in business. We went in there and there were just boxes of products sitting everywhere. The person working the shop was clearly annoyed we came in and looked at us like we had two heads when we were shopping for honey vessels. Would have bought other things in there on that trip if the vibes and attitude from the proprietor werenāt so standoffish and rude.
Edited to add: what we asked for in the store was āhoney jars.ā A term youād think heād be familiar with. Regardless, based on the plethora of other reviews on the exact topic of the proprietorās attitude seems Iām more than justified in my read of the situation. Maybe if he cared as much about not being flippant to customers as he does about his Google reviews, this would be a different review. Daring to call someone unreasonable for sensing clearly they are unwelcome in a place of business and promptly leaving...
