Assafa Islamic Center Inc — Local services in New York

This is the only mosque in the lower East side of Manhattan. It is a new construction with about 6 floors with elevator service.

They have 5 times daily jamat with 2 jamats for Jumma (Fridays). Recently, they have introduced free weekend quran class and madrasa service, starting from this academic year. The people are very nice and friendly, always ready to help.

This masjid caters for ladies as well. I was to see a sizable number of women praying here, especially during Jumma and Tarawi.

Although this is not a very big in size, but I am very pleased to have a masjid like this in this area, that will In Sha Allah make a big difference at this challenging time of the Muslim community. I have my full support for this great...

This is my childhood masjid, so yes I may seem bias, but it's true -- they host events every now and then which open up opportunities to increasing your knowledge and gaining rewards for the hereafter. You can be more educated in Islam and values when such events happen.

Every Ramadan especially is the best, especially this year as over 700+ people have been coming to join together for iftar Alhamdulilah. Unlike other masjids, this masjid offers 3 jamats for taraweeh as some people aren't able to attend the earlier ones for reasons such as work.

They offer amazing weekend class for other kids and even parents! Especially moms too, every Saturday and Sunday. All of these programs are free of charge.

Alhamdulillah,everything is up to the mark except the way of asking for donation.Last friday I prayed Salaat al Jummah here and witnessed such a cheap as well as unprofessional method to collect donation.When I was leaving mosque after prayer one brother on the stair,three brothers outside of the mosque(on the sidewalk) were collecting donation saying ''For the masjid brother,for the masjid brother'' continuously which made me ashamed as a muslim.It was looking like they were begging(Astagfirullah). If anyone of the governing body see this message please try to be professional and have self respect when asking for...
