Like many people, I'd imagine, I didn't exercise much and stopped doing pilates during covid. During this time I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery and chemo. By the time I signed up for pilates with Jessica Sansone at BASI I was probably at my weakest and least confident, physically speaking -- to say nothing of my psyche -- than I'd been in my adult life. I'm 54. Jessica met me where I was at this moment and slowly but surely brought me to a level of strength that just this week, January 2023, enabled me to pull of a ginormous move, a strenuous and even risky maneuver of boxes and stairwells and sweating through my t-shirt. I am so proud of myself and grateful to her. Over the last 6 months I have eagerly gone back to my pilates regimen with Jessica and for the first time at BASI. I look forward to it every week. Jessica mixes my strength training with alignment and stretching so that the hour never feels like bootcamp. I experience that special thing only pilates can offer - a sense of being several inches taller on the way out than on the way in. The BASI space is stunning. The reformer and cadillac are like butter - newly installed. It's a state of the art facility. Recently I followed my pilates workout with a great massage from Atsuhiko Kawamura and highly recommend him. Anastasia is always on hand to help schedule appointments make it easy for me to explore and make use of the many services. I have so much more to explore. I love the location, a 15 minute walk from my apartment in Carroll Gardens. I'm so grateful to Basi and especially to Jessica for getting me to this moment. I feel strong and...

I have wanted to do pilates for a while but it’s quite the investment for me personally so I went back and forth. I felt like my workouts in the gym and at home were getting stale so I decided there was added value in in-person instruction. I have really been trying to recommit myself to not only my aesthetic fitness goals but also to overall wellness.
Initially, I purchased a 10 class pack but then quickly moved to unlimited after I taken classes with many of the different instructors.
I absolutely love it here! In the short time I have been coming I have completed over 35 classes and a few privates with Astrid. I love how knowledgeable the providers are, they have diverse backgrounds in movement such as acrobatics, dance etc. They give you tweaks if your posture or movement is different from what it’s supposed to be. Because of their knowledge they explain what you were doing incorrectly and if that is dangerous or just working a different muscle. I love all the instructors- I frequently take classes from Bianca, Astrid, Julian, Yunny and Jessica. What also impresses me is how they give very personalized instruction for a small group class. I really like that all the classes have variety so it keeps your workouts fresh!
In terms of the admin side, Anastasia answered my many questions when I was starting here. She also helps me on an ongoing basis if I have any questions on the MindBody app or my subscription.
The studio has a very friendly, easy going vibe and I will definitely continue to...
Read moreI've been a client of Physiologic since 2015 and love the classes they are offering. I've tried several Pilates group reformer classes, there are many options from Monday to Saturday on all levels. Classes are small, 5 persons max and well thought through and explained so it is easy for everybody to understand and follow. My favorite group class is with Barbara Sampson, her energy and good vibes are so motivating and she is very professional and caring about each participant's injuries or pains. Great overall workout perfectly choreographed for improvement of flexibility and feeling stronger and energized! In addition to that weekly group class, I take a private lesson with Shannon Green every Saturday. She has been amazing over the past 3 years, helping me to build stability and toning my muscles for better support. She customizes the exercises depending on where I feel pain and where I need to improve my muscles and gain flexibility. I sometimes walk in there feeling 200 years old and beyond stiff and then walk out with a smile feeling so much better! It has also been very helpful to learn from her how to do a few exercises at home with a roller just to keep it going... Allover I would rate PL 5 stars, the spacious industrial style class rooms with plenty of light are definitely a plus and it's...
