EDIT: I got a response back from them claiming there was a price increase from the first time i went. They sent me a text saying to go on the website to see the prices. On 5/20 the website the price for a natural hair wash and set was $50. (this is not what i was charged) As of 5/21 the website has been changed and says the price depends on your hair and length. It’s crazy how she can acknowledge that she is wrong and even changed the website but won’t reach back out to me for a refund. please don’t come here and spend your money at a salon that will actually do your hair correctly. they don’t treat you nice if you don’t speak spanish or look like it.
I have been to this salon on two separate occasions. Both times I booked with Tiffany. The first time, everything went smoothly and my hair came out great. I only wished she was able to get it straight with just the flat iron like the Dominican salons usually do. I’m all the way from Queens so the commute is a lot but I knew I wanted to come back.
The second time was my final time unfortunately. Tiffany washed and rolled my hair but when it was time to get the blow out she was working on someone else. I had to get a blow out by Cathy (owner). I was a bit annoyed because I did not make an appointment with her but I figured that she’s the owner she should know what she’s doing. This is not an authentic Dominican salon. I grew up getting wash and sets and never needed a flat iron after. She barely applied any tension to my head and only used a comb to blow it out. I asked for flat iron because I needed it super straight for an event.
The first time I was charged $5 for adding on the flat iron (which is crazy, but I was okay with it). Cathy thought I didn’t speak spanish and I heard her asking her coworkers how much they think they should charge me. Cathy was persistent on $10.
When it was time to pay the bill way way higher than the last time but I did not notice until I left. Everything had a $10 increase and she charged me $10 for the flat iron. I wouldn’t need the flat iron if you knew how to blow out hair correctly. I was also charged $30 for a TRIM.
I’m sorry but she’s absolutely ridiculous with the prices for mediocre work. She’s also ridiculous for assuming I did not understand her Spanish. It’s weird to treat non-spanish speaking customers like that when they are the ones keeping your...
Read moreOverall, this is a great salon as shown by their reviews and my experience. Yet, I came to this salon in January and my hair has not been the same since. I came in for a wash & set, plus blowdry (extra charge). I also brought my own deep conditioner. The issue was that after detangling my hair, the stylist went straight to blow drying it rather than putting my hair in rolls. I take full responsibility for not speaking up but she had already started. In the end, I was charged the same even though I had no rolls in my hair. I expressed that and was told that it was a mistake but I still have to pay the same, and that next time I have to book under natural hair. Any time a salon charges extra for natural hair, that’s a red flag. I can’t change the texture/pattern of my hair, I’m sorry. After 2-3 weeks, I washed my hair and my hair is damaged! It looked like I had put a relaxer in my hair. The 2 years I spent transitioning and not using heat (since the last time I came here actually), went down the drain. I decided to wait to post a review to see if my hair would revert back. It’s been close to 5 months and it’s still very damaged. I have not used heat during these months. This frustrates me because I spent a great amount of time trying to become natural and it went away after I came here. It’s even more shocking because I spoke to the stylist about natural hair and she herself spoke about her natural clients. I’m glad to have found a Dominican salon that’s a lot better than others, but they must have done something to my hair because it is pretty damaged. Many Dominican salons are known for putting stuff in their products to make it easier to style coily hair patterns. I have to transition once again or cut my hair which is very annoying. Other natural hair women have came here and have had great experiences, but for some reason, my hair got damaged after...
Read moreI’ve been refraining from commenting for a year now, but if I could give this place a -1000000 I would, but that’s not possible. When I came into this salon last July my hair was full and thick and long. Afterwards, im now dealing with extreme hair loss which has triggered alopecia areata. I’m afraid the hair loss will continue… if you ask what happened I came here to get my hair pressed to make my life more simple while in town. I left unknowingly with my hair chemically processed. I use to get perms as a kid so I recognized the smell. I don’t remember the ladies hair that actually washed my hair but she’s responsible for my hair because that’s where the chemical was applied. What started off as someone who lives out of town just visiting a random salon for a good experienced turned into the worst thing to happen to me. Below I will insert pictures from what my hair looked like before the salon and afterwards. I now have to live in twist outs because my hair just hasn’t been the same since so thanks for ruining my life! The third photo shows how limp and damaged my hair is because...
