Dr. Chi Shum is truly one of the best doctors I’ve ever had. He’s kind, patient, and genuinely takes the time to listen—never rushing through a visit. What really sets him apart is how accessible and responsive he is. Whether I have a question or request, he replies to emails almost immediately, which is incredibly rare and deeply appreciated.

He’s not the type of doctor to make you come into the office for every minor concern. That respect for my time and thoughtful judgement shows he truly cares about what’s best for his patients—not just what the system wants. The office staff is also outstanding—friendly, professional, and efficient. From scheduling to check‑in to follow‑up, the whole experience feels smooth, caring, and human.

I went to Dr. Shum recently mainly because he’s close to my office in midtown.

He is very kind, and thorough in going through my medical history and all the check-ups and order bloodwork done in the office with impeccable bed-side manners. I also had an electrocardiogram done in the office which is a plus since not all PCP does that.

Most doctors are under pressure to rush through patients, it’s rather rare to find a doctor like Dr. Shum who is chilled and take the time to listen and talk to patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Shum to anyone.

However, one should have the proper expectation that this is a small medical practice and the setup is more old-fashioned, the equipment might not be the state of art kind of fancy, but it all works as it should.

Dr. Shum is a great doctor and a wonderful person. He has expert knowledge of all medical issues as well as a marvelous bedside manner. He was my primary care doctor a while ago. I changed doctors because of location (I wanted a doctor closer to home in Queens). What a mistake. My Queens doctor was a liar and cheat. It was all about money and how much more she could get. Needless to say, I returned to Dr. Shum who remembered me and my medical issues and provided me with his expert medical advise as well as a compassionate understanding of what I can or should do.
