When I was younger, I spent many summers in NYC. This time around, I had the absolute privilege of visiting the Franciscan Monastery—located right across the street from my aunt's old apartment in Greenwich Village. I remember always hearing the church bells ring each hour. Fast forward to the present day: I am now a devout Catholic. God is so good. The Church of St. Anthony of Padua, built in 1859, was established to serve the Italian immigrant community. Saint Anthony of Padua is known as the “Wonder Worker”—and for good reason! I encourage you to take some time to read about this incredible saint. Today, the Franciscans, in imitation of Saint Francis of Assisi, continue to follow in the footsteps of Christ. To do so—and to remain faithful in a place like New York City—is awe-inspiring, humbling, and full of grace. Beautiful parish! I highly recommend it.

Beautiful stained glass in this Romanesque Revival church on the corner of Houston and Sullivan. Italian immigrants first started worshiping here in 1866. A hidden gem worth a stop if you’re in the south Village or SOHO.

A must visit church whenever I visit NYC. Mary handing Baby Jesus to St Anthony is always a happy sight. The church is beautiful as well. So comforting to be inside
