My family planned a day of sightseeing in Manhattan and were excited to be able to see parts of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty on a ship with sails as opposed to a ferry type ship. We arrived to the Slip 2 location in Battery Park City 30 minutes early and were confused as we did not see any folks from the company. We called to find out if we went to the wrong place and were told that we went to the right place and that the sailing is going to take place. We anxiously waited until we started to realize something was wrong given that it was five minutes past the sailing time and the clipper ship was still there. We spoke to a crewmember on board the ship and were told that the sailing had been canceled. We had not received any communication to this effect and this contradicted what we were told when we called the office. The crewmember mentioned that the sailing was canceled due to mechanical issues with the ship. When we called the office we were told that the sailing was indeed canceled due to the weather. Employees of the company were not even on the same page. We bought our tickets through CitySights and were not able to go on a later sailing given that we had carefully planned the day. CitySights would not give us a refund given that the tickets went unused. I would recommend anyone reading this to be wary of both the Clipper City Tall Ship company...
Read moreAfter being cancelled twice due to rain - despite their website assuring sailing is an "all weather activity" and "boats leave the dock rain or shine" - I finally got to sail. If you want to call it that. Half the sails were raised for show and we motored very slowly out to the Statue of Liberty and back. That's it. And don't even get me started on the "Oktoberfest" food. We were presented with a bratwurst in a foil warming envelope, cold, a bun in a foil warming envelope, cold and damp, and a cider donut in a wax paper envelope that was hard and dry. That said, the trip was still pleasant and sometimes you just have to set aside the small stuff and enjoy whatever experience you are having. The crew members were helpful and friendly and their customer service was very responsive when I was charged for tax every time I had to reschedule my reservation, not only immediately providing a refund of the duplicated fees but offering a voucher toward a future sail for my inconvenience. If you're expecting a trip "for adults who seek an active yet refined sailing experience" it may only meet your expectations if it is quite windy and the goal is the sail, not the tourist photo op. I think I might try again on a trip not including food (you are welcome top bring your own if you like) and during a...
Read moreI booked this sightseeing boat trip as a surprise for my girlfriend's birthday, however, I had to change the date for technical reason ( I'm a corporate pilot ) flight schedule had changed, I called the 212 # to see if they could accommodate me in changing this reservation, left few messages in a course of three days to no avail. As a result decided to call adrenaline's toll free number. Oh boy, I did not expect to be treated with such disrespect. I explained my situation to the lady over the phone & told her that I tried calling the 212 number to no avail. Her answer & I quote " well that's their number, there is nothing I can do, I CANT FORCE THEM TO CALL YOU CAN I "? I asked her politely ( I have to confess was struggling to remain calm ) if she could change the reservation for me, her response was, no I can't you have to call that number & leave a message. I asked her what's the point of leaving messages if no one returns you calls & was told that the 212 # in Manhattan is a different company ( travel agency .) that happens to handle their reservations, cancellations & changes but ADRENALINE can't do it directly, it makes no sense. Extremely RUDE lady who could simply cared less about my situation. Morality, God forbid if you have to change your reservation you are...
