The first time I had their ice cream was the summer of 2019 and when I heard there was a location here in the city, with savory foods, I decided to try it.
We ordered the holiday soft serve, The Grinch (eggnog custard, holiday sprinkles, wintergreen dip), the Hot Bae Chixy Dips (chicken tenders with chili-honey and chesapeake spice), the single Dip burger (single patty burger with their signature sauce, aged cheddar, lettuce and tomato), and the Java Buzzed (alcoholic milkshake with sea salted vanilla, baileys irish whiskey, caramel cold brew).
If you are a cinnamon-horchata fan, I definitely recommend the Grinch as it was creamy with a strong cinnamon smell. It was really good. The green coating, didn't taste anything special, but it did make the ice cream fun to eat with the crunch.
With regards to the savory food, I was not a fan. I found all the foods too salty. For the burger, the aged cheddar was really strong, that I hardly was able to taste anything else but salt. The Chixy Dips were huge and a bit heavy and salty on the coating, and the honey was located all on the bottom. I had to take a bite of the ice cream in between the savory food because it was so much salt.
I'd definitely come back here for their soft serve and shakes, not so much the savory food.
The interior was nice with a retro styled look. If you happen to find no place to sit there, there are endless seating around the Seaport.
This place accepts credit cards and price wise I'd say it is average Manhattan...
Read moreI went into Mister Dips with my partner to get an ice cream and some beer. We went into the restaurant and the cashier was extremely rude to us. I’ve never visited the establishment prior, so I had a few questions about the ice cream. I wanted to get a recommendation , rather the cashier answer my question (when asked if the “Cookie Monster” was good) she curtly replied “all of our ice cream is good”.. taken a back we proceeded with our order. We saw you carried Boyland soda and then proceeded to ask if there was Black Cherry (as we didn’t see it on display but thought maybe there were more flavors other then the display) the cashier then rudely placed her hands over the display and said “like I said, these are the only sodas we have”… at that point me and my partner no longer wanted to spend our money at a place that featured such rude staff. Without saying another word, my partner ushered me away and we walked out. This occurred Friday, September 16th at around 9:45pm. We will NOT...
Read moreI have had this place on my go-to list ever since I saw an old episode of "Best thing I ever ate" on the Food Network many years back, highlighting one of their ice cream cones. I finally got the chance to check them out this past Labor Day Weekend. Even though the place is small, it is hard to miss on Pier 17. When I walked in, I could see that the restaurant was very cute and inviting. Even though they sell several food and drink items (including alcohol), I still went for one of their specialty dipped cones. I ordered the Chocolate PBD, which tasted really good, and I was happy they provided a dripstick for the cone since the ice cream can melt fast on a hot day. The service is fast and friendly and the prices are pretty reasonable for this location. They also have a good amount of seating indoors and a few tables for outside. After my first experience here, I could see what all the hype was about this place, and I will be sure to drop by again the next time I am...
