If you like ships, stop on by! I visited during the last half hour this past Saturday after Maum Market at Pier 17 and was able to learn a lot about the ship during my self guided tour. There was a word hunt of sorts with riddles which I found to be pretty cool. Also, the staff on deck were able to answer most questions or at least provide their best reasonable responses.

I haven't been inside the ship, but Pier 17 is a really nice spot to sit and watch the ferries come in, look out at the water, have a snack or a meal, and just relax for a bit. I hope to visit the Ambrose properly soon.

A beautiful ship. Nearby pier has great views of both Manhattan right behind and Brooklyn across the river. Quite clean and new looking.

Mid-sized ship that was built in early 1900s and functioned as a floating lighthouse for 20+ years. It was strategically positioned at the mouth of New York Harbor to guide bigger vessels in and out of the harbor. I learned a lot from the docent, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. You can buy admission tickets online or at the South Street Seaport Museum across the street. Tickets are also good for the museum and another ship called Wavertree, which is docked on the same pier as...

This is a very fascinating ship. It would sail out to the edge of New York harbor shipping channel and just park there for weeks at a time. On the top masts are two lights and they would act as a lighthouse. This could be dangerous since they could be hit by ships during...
