I drink a LOT of milk tea and have tried probably every single place in Manhattan and Brooklyn, most of which are chains or are asian food joints that serve it because it’s an easy sell, but they don’t specialize in it. (I live in Brooklyn.) (Yes, I pretty much just make the trip up to Astoria for Tea and Milk’s bubble tea!) This place is different. You can taste how fragrant and fresh the tea is — versus most place where you can tell its a concentrate or mass produced product. Their signature cream is also super decadent and fresh tasting, and definitely not the powdered milk that a lot of chains use. So, yes, it’s more expensive, but it’s seriously the best milk tea there is, in my opinion. For people who think it’s bland — I think this is because they might be used to the milk tea other chains make from concentrate, or from a bulk, artificially packaged product. For me, this tea is exactly what milk tea should be — a balanced drink that highlights the delicate fragrance of the tea, and augmented with the creaminess of milk, without being overpowered by it. Black teas are my go-to, so I routinely order the 64oz growler of nilgiri black milk tea (an excellent tea for milk tea purists), the dark roasted oolong milk tea (another classic), and the early grey milk tea. I usually opt for grass jelly instead of tapioca — again, you can really taste that theirs is fresh and homemade 😻 Huge bonus points for the fact that they offer decent vegan options 👏 Love you guys, Tea and Milk!! 💗💗💗

We were looking for a fun and personalized touch on our wedding day, so we had Tea and Milk cater bubble tea for our wedding, and it was honestly one of our favorite parts of the day! And, our guests are still raving about it months later! From start to finish, Tea and Milk was an absolute pleasure to work with. Mathew worked closely with us to choose customized flavors, and with his guidance we had the perfect amount - just a little left over of each of the 3 flavors we chose (strawberry black tea, hibiscus peach teamonade, and Vietnamese coffee - YUM!) Mathew was extremely kind, responsive, and professional from the start, and we knew that day of, he and his team would do a spectacular job (a bride's dream!). He thought to trouble shoot any problems before they arose (having some pre-poured tea to grab-and-go to decrease lines, suggestions to put up a sign warning pregnant women not to have hibiscus, etc) and the staff managed extremely well. Our guests are still talking about what a fun, fresh, and DELICIOUS part of the day it was! Could not recommend Tea and Milk more highly!!

I've been to this spot many times but never got the chance to review them. They serve many types of bubble teas. They have specialty flavors that come about sometimes. I feel like their options are more geared towards tea drinkers and those who like savory teas. They don't have a lot of good sweet options or fruit milk teas. It's mainly a takeout spot and the service was okay, they don't give much flexibility in customizing drinks. I prefer more sweet and creamy bubble teas and this spot doesn't have too many options like that. This time I tried a bay ridge which is advertised as a mango lassi type drink. It was not what I was expecting and tasted more like yogurt than anything else. Mango lassi is usually creamy, sweet, and mango taste but this was very different. Maybe some people like this type of taste but it wasn't for me.

2/12 Edit: I am quite impressed by the story that has been concocted and I am now more certain that I will not be coming back to this location NOR your location in Chelsea Market any longer.

I am very disappointed; you were my #1 boba place thus far in NYC where I loved introducing this place to others but now I no longer feel comfortable supporting this business.

I can understand hiccups in a business. The repetition of the same problem however led me to leave a review.

Having spoken with Melanie over the phone the same day I wrote this review, the conversation seemed amiable and that the issue had been resolved. She was very nice speaking with over the phone.

I've never written a review before where the business responded with fighting words!!!

Truly disappointed, albeit mildly impressed by the effort taken to write this story in order to save face.

For some reason, this location never fails to disappoint.

My second time ordering from here and one of the drinks ordered was a Strawberry Lychee GT w/ tapioca and no ice. I made sure to go over the order on the screen to double check the cashier got the order right and yet, when I received my drinks and walked away, I discovered that this drink was missing the topping. I had to go back in order for them to fix this and in turn, they removed the lychee fruit that typically comes as part of the drink while they put the tapioca in. Talk about petty behavior.

My first time ordering here in the past, they also did not get the order correct and I had to go back for them to fix it.

I never have problems at the Chelsea Market location but for some reason, the training here is not up to par.

I will not be coming to this...

First review on yelp was 5 star but had to lower one star down. Here is the reason why

On May 24th I decided to take out again from tea and milk, So ordered through Yelp for 9:15am. I was late the time I was to pick it up but the drinks weren't made at 9:15am it's fine. The time I went to pick it up was 9:40am and made me wait another good 3 minutes because the girl that works there said WAIT.

Before I left the store I should have checked she gave me right straw for my drink! I ordered the root taro drink with grass jelly and really had hard time drinking that! Ordered their coffee with matcha cream cheese croissant and finally got to try their red velvet cookie I didn't get to try last time. Honestly Idk how she thought I would be able to drink that drink with that small thin straw. I got tired in the end drinking that tea. (Thank God I didn't add tapioca!)

Unfortunately along with the time, THE STRAW FOR MY DRINK, the taro root tea and their croissant wasn't my favorite! Didn't like the taro root drink so next time I be there won't be getting it for sure.

The matcha cream cheese croissant was too much cream cheese that when you get to 3rd bite you want to end up throwing it out. I really liked the red velvet cookie! Overall my visit to the store first time it wasn't...
