CVS — Local services in New York

Let me be clear: my review is about the experience I had with the Minute Clinic last year (2023) when I got a flu shot. I will buy anything here, because the staff and pharmacy staff are thoughtful and great. And I will never seek shots or vaccines at this location after my experience last year.

CVS is operating disingenuously and, dare I say, fraudulently by working with physicians whose practices are not in New York State.

The flu shot I received was administered by a staff member of one such doctor, whose practice is in the state of Maine. Unfortunately, my insurance policy doesn't cover services that occur outside of NYS. While I received the flu shot on East 34th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues, because CVS (which is headquartered in Woonsocket, RI) chooses to work with people whose practices are not in NYS, yet they have staff who, apparently, can work in NYS.

Unfortunately, and here is where the fraudulent stuff comes up, you are billed not by CVS, but by CVS dba (doing business as) Minute Clinic and your received services are listed as being provided by an out of state physician. Your payment will go to this out of state physician. And your insurance, in my case Anthem, will deny coverage because out of state is, obviously, out of network.

Flu shots are free. Mine, conducted via this unbelievably greedy procedural, cost $50: $25 for the shot, $25 for the labor. I will continue to fight the billed payment, because CVS is a bad actor and, where Minute Clinic is concerned, intentionally...

My name Santos, I just left the pharmacy! If you considering doing business with this location Be prepared to be disappointed service wise and dismissed abruptly. Especially by the crooked eyed glasses wearing white Asian man that can’t give any direction as far as handling the situation . It was I can’t help you next. I have never experienced that kind of service in my whole life.Then when I asked to speak to a manager nobody wanted to tell me. They were being vague the audacit! the manager or head pharmacist Middle Eastern with hazel eyes terrible terrible experience run the cameras back. I arrive there at 4:50 PM had long hair in a pony tail and a Black Crossbody June 12,2025. I would warn you not to because both the pharmacist and the pharmacist lead were unprofessional. I promise you run the tape back and start asking coworkers exactly how it went down. It was disturbing. Y’all really need to issue some type of customer service training asap to the entire staff. furthermore, some kind of documentation or probationary period needs to happen because the way I seen people treated after me is wild. I have literally never written a business review but I feel compelled to do so because my experience was so awful at this pharmacy. I was gaslit by the woman on the phone multiple times giving me different reasons she couldn’t fill my prescription, including that my doctor “cancelled it” which was absolutely not true. I received so much pushback that I started crying on the phone out of helplessness because I knew what she was saying was false and I would not get my medication which was over a week overdue. The woman on the phone told me to “stay strong” and this is how life works. I did not tell her how much more I know about the medical field than her because I couldn’t even get the words out and she shut down everything I said. I am fortunate that my doctor’s office helped me by faxing proof and I was finally able to have the medication filled when I happened to get a different person on the phone. As expected, there was no prescription problem the entire time and she was gaslighting me to try to get me off the phone. I can’t imagine how many patients have had similar experiences when she treated me this way as someone who works in the medical field and has high health literacy.
