Daniel J. Alpert, M.D. — Local services in New York

I have been a patient of Dr. Alpert's for several years. He has performed colonoscopies on myself and my wife, and a few endoscopies for me, besides going to him for various other gastric issues. Of course I've gone to other gastroenterologists in my life, but Dr. Alpert is by far the best. And it's taken me years to find him!

He is friendly, patient, listens and answers every question I have, and gives me great suggestions on what I can do to help whatever problem I have. And if I have to have a procedure done, Dr. Alpert explains everything about it, to inform me and put me at ease.

I know it sounds like I'm describing him as perfect, but I really never had anything but a great experience with him in the years I've been his patient. I guess that's why he has the "One of the Most Compassionate Doctors" plaque on his wall. Others agree with me, too! I would (and have) referred him to family and friends, and I haven't heard anything negative about their experiences, too.

P.S. - Dr. Alpert's staff is also top notch. It's obvious he went to the trouble to find great people to have in his office. It wouldn't be good to have a great experience with the doctor and have negative ones with the staff. Of course it's more important to have a great experience with the doctor, but it only makes it that much better to have a nice staff to deal with when you visit. And after any procedure, they always call me the next day to see how I'm doing. I know other offices do that as well, but it only adds to the pleasant experiences there with Dr. Alpert. I highly...

I have been very afraid of having a colonoscopy for many, many years. Then, probably eating something funky, I had a bit of rectal bleeding. Dr. Alpert came highly recommended. I immediately got an appointment, and in his calm, professional manner he listened to my concerns, and I realized it was time to schedule the procedure so as to examine if there was a serious problem. Fortunately, there was nothing major. The procedure went smoothly and quickly. The staff was friendly, efficient, and professional. The conversation with the anesthesiologist helped me to remain calm as she prepared me. Next thing I knew, the procedure was finished. Whoa! Dr. Alpert made be feel proud that I did my first colonoscopy. He is a genuine doctor which is rare today. You can tell he honestly cares about his patients; his eye contact is real. Don’t be afraid, or avoid a colonoscopy like I had been doing. You’ll be glad you did!🙂 PS: There was a long wait, from my scheduled appointment, but I understand this happens sometimes. Also, it was a bit disconcerting seeing medical supplies in the room before you enter the office’s bathroom, and I wish those things were better secured.
