Dolores Beauty Salon — Local services in New York

Ok. I've hesitated to write this review because I really, REALLY wanted a good experience here. I had my hair (3b/c) blown out with a woman named Carina (or Corina). Despite having brought my own products for my hair from Brasil (in tiny travel sized bottles from Pantene) she would NOT listen to what I was telling her about my hair + the products. She insisted that Pantene was not for my hair + instead of using what I brought or LISTENING to what I told her about having put my own products in the packaging, she used what she wanted from the salon. I have very fine hair + she wasn't being mindful at all about the level of heat used with the blow-dryer + passed the flatiron over my strands THREE times before I told her, enough + that I had to go. She kept saying there was such high humidity + I looked at her + said, well yes, then passing the prancha (flat iron) over it again wont help, will it? On top of having not listened to what my needs were or using the products that were brought for my hair, she tried to get me to let her trim my hair. No way in HELL. I paid, smiled at Dolores the owner + thanked them for the service they provided + vowed NEVER to go back UNLESS Dolores herself actually did my hair, because everyone seems to have had a good experience with her.

Now, will I really go back? not likely. was this an unfortunate incident? perhaps. but when a stylist repeatedly doesn't listen, it's worth questioning if it's smart to return + spend your money on a blowout where you'll only wear a ponytail for a day or 2 afterward + likely suffer a ton of...

I started coming here to get my hair done finally found a hair salon close to where I live my second time coming I brought my daughter so she can feel special she really wanted to do her hair with me and feel beautiful how ever I wasn’t too happy with the pricing 45$ and all she got was a wash blow dry and flat iron she doesn’t even have that much hair as u can see the most I would usually pay for her is 25$ but this specific salon said 40$ at first than changed it to 45$ when she was done how ever this was an emergency so I didn’t have time to argue or anything or even time to go to another salon so I just took the lost! How ever I love coming here for myself and will continue to come just won’t be bringing my daughter hear no more because the pricing was outrageous for her I get my hair done by Yasmine and will continue too overall a good salon good service just wasn’t happy about the pricing for a child so if you looking for a salon this is your place look...

Ever since I moved to NY i struggled for so long to find a salon that is able to do a really good blowout on my curly hair and that won't charge me 76 bucks for a wash and blow dry and won't charge me extra for straightening my curly hair because they suck at blow drying. Do yourself the favor and come here and get your hair done with Carina(I think that's her name or Katrina), she is amazing!! I have gotten several Dominican blowouts in Jersey and my scalp felt fried. Not once did my scalp burn here at Dolores. Everyone there is so friendly and hilarious! Can't wait to go back!
