I put off getting my wisdom teeth extracted for 20+ years - that's how much I really didn't want to do this surgery. All four of my wisdom teeth were impacted in the bone in some way, and I have a small mouth. So getting those teeth cut out of my jaw didn't really appeal to me at all. I finally had a month off from work (lost my only excuse - no time, can't be away from work) and figured I should probably get them taken care of before something really goes wrong.

The entire experience at Carnegie was outstanding. The front office staff was pleasant and very on top of it, providing cost estimates and confirming insurance coverage. They went above and beyond when I had an issue with the insurance pre-authorization and clearly had my best interests in mind.

Perhaps more importantly, Dr. Ostuni is an amazing oral surgeon. I'm someone who is highly analytical and a bit of a control freak; I've had some pretty unpleasant experiences with poor quality dental professionals, so for something as invasive as oral surgery I was especially apprehensive.

Dr. Ostuni put me completely at ease and helped me arrive at a decision for the surgery in which I felt 100% confident. He's a straight shooter, very analytical, and provides solid recommendations that are backed up with reasoning that he very clearly shared with me. He didn't mince words and didn't sugar coat things, which I really appreciated.

At my initial consultation and again on the day of surgery, Dr. Ostuni laid out all of my x-rays and walked me through his entire thought process, so I felt very comfortable that he had thought through all of the potential options, as well as the pros and cons of each, before arriving at a well-reasoned conclusion. He also very clearly laid out all of the potential risks, benefits, and potential outcomes, so I knew exactly what to expect (and what not to expect). We ultimately settled on a plan to extract the top left and do a coronectomy on the bottom left wisdom tooth, while leaving the right side alone.

Then came the execution of the actual surgery. I got general anesthesia as recommended by Dr. Ostuni, and I was literally in and out in 45 minutes. I woke up with two fewer wisdom teeth and no pain whatsoever. It was clear that Dr. Ostuni knew exactly what he was doing, given how quickly and smoothly the process went. He even ended up extracting the tooth that we originally earmarked for coronectomy, which is an unexpectedly better outcome than we had planned going in.

Post-op, Dr. Ostuni was always only a phone call or text away, and answered all of my questions and concerns with a prompt, to-the-point response. His confidence and clarity of response put me at ease, and he did not steer me wrong. I had absolutely zero complications and a pretty easy recovery from what I thought would be a seemingly traumatic extraction surgery.

It almost doesn't feel like enough to say that I recommend Carnegie and Dr. Ostuni wholeheartedly. While I hope I never have to get any more oral surgery, I take comfort in the fact that if ever I do, I'll be in very good hands with this team.

Dental365 recommended Dr. Ostuni the week I had a terrible toothache from my wisdom tooth, which was during my birthday week! They were able to make an appointment for the end of the week, and we were suggested to call Dr. Ostuni between the time we made the appointment and the day of the appointment if I needed to urgently speak to him regarding the toothache. The day before I went to see him, the pain became unbearable, so after leaving him a message, he returned my call and recommended some actions to take -- all doing this while he was off!

First appointment: From the moment I arrived and greeted by Leslie at the front desk, all the way to being counseled by Dr. Ostuni, I immediately felt very welcome and relieved. Dr. Ostuni went over the x-ray with me, and provided insights of the procedure that would be best for my case. He was able to explain everything without sugar coating anything, but at the same time made me feel safe. Since I was going away for my birthday weekend with my friends, Dr. Ostuni recommended that we held off the extraction until after the weekend (with me on antibiotics, which helped!) - they were able to schedule the appointment right away.

Second appointment: This was the day of my procedure, and again, I felt very comfortable and that I was in good hands. Dr. Ostuni and his assistants were rock stars - the procedure went smoothly and did not take as long as I had expected. Oh, before I left, they handed me a birthday card, as well as chocolate, to wish me a belated happy birthday. In the evening, Dr. Ostuni gave me a follow-up call.

All in all, Dr. Ostuni is one of the bests in his profession, and everyone at the clinic was super nice and caring, and it truly felt like a family. The clinic is clean and modern, but it did not give me the too-sterile/blah feeling that I sometimes get from a healthcare clinic.

This place is the best and I will recommend it to my friends & family.

I had an emergency during the Covid-19 crisis and ended up at this practice through the recommendation of an endo dentist. I AM SO GLAD I FOUND Dr. Ostuni!

They made time for me on the same day as the referral and I even had my surgery done on the same day. This was particularly helpful because I don't live in the neighborhood and saved me from traveling on multiple days.

The facility is clean, professional, updated with all required equipment on site. I was the only patient in the office (which is common practice for them even without covid concerns) and so all hands on deck were concerned with me, caring for me, and taking the time to explain everything I needed. They didn't rush and made sure I personally understood what my condition was, how they help me, how much it would cost.

They literally walked me through everything having to do with payment and cost. They talked with my insurance company and made a spreadsheet outlining my policy and costs. I knew what I would be expected to pay and why.

The staff is so friendly. I HATE going to the dentist and they relieved my anxiety. No judgements, just trying to fix the problem with the best solution.

They follow up with you. You can text Dr. Ostuni with any questions even late at night.

I had a tooth removed with extra stitches needed to free up the gums surrounding the tooth. We expected major bruising and swollen-ness. I didn't have ANY bruising. The swelling was minimal and there was barely any pain in the next few days (managed completely by Tylenol and ice compress). I am in awe.

Follow up procedures are necessary, and they have communicated with me about what they can do, what an endo will have to do, and about researching opportunities for cost effective solutions for both. They are not here to bleed you for money. They want what's...
